Royal Mail staff to stage four-day strike action

  1. I’m a Postie and CWU rep. If anyone has any questions regarding this, I am more than happy to try and answer them as best I can.

This isn’t official, just my understanding and opinion.

ETA: This strike is purely for a no strings attached pay deal.

You will hear 5.5% was offered, this is BS. 2% was forced on us with no strings. An extra 1.5% was offered if we accepted changes to terms, which included cutting allowances. Which would have meant less money. Also a potential £500 bonus for unreachable productivity goals.

Royal Mail made £700m last year and gave £400m to shareholders. £400m is the equavalant of a near 10% pay rise for all staff.

There is also another ballot for strike action currently underway about terms and conditions.

  2. Considering my local office had staff shortages for multiple days ending up in post being a week or more late, I fully support them striking since it would effect my local service anyway

  3. September’s strike is going to hit us (small businesses) bad. Still 100% supporting the strike.

People don’t realise how many small businesses use Royal Mail. It’s still a very important part of the UK economy and you absolutely cannot beat it for the price.

Should never have been privatised. How the fuck do you privatise something so strategically important in the first place…

  4. More power to them and hopefully more workers follow suit. My regular postie is an amazing guy and I feel bad for him as I know he picks up other routes because the staffing is so poor. He still always has a smile on his face.

  5. All the best postie’s . All delivery companies made mega profits during the lock down periods ,
We are all still feeling burnt out from the record amount of packages that we had to deliver
Hope you get what you need 👍

  6. Anyone else think it’s really overdue time we had a general strike? The entire order of things is absolutely fucked. Energy companies soaring profits while people struggle to pay bills. The wealth gap growing wider and wider while billionaires stuff their pockets. A housing crisis with no end in sight with rent soaring, property prices pushing young people out of the market entirely and landlords, wealthy foreigners and private companies hoovering up properties. The entire system fucking stinks and I’m sick of it.
