Something we did “right”

  1. I do wonder if they aren’t overvalueing our military force, AFAIK there are are about 200 countries and last I heard is that we have one bullet per man stockpiled for the 3 men and a horsehead that’s our army, so most other countries are somehow worse?

  2. Somehow I find this hard to believe. I mean, Finland could steamroll our army, not defeat, steamroll. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania are much closer to our capabilities than this chart implies.

    Poland is also one of the most capable armies in Europe, as is Greece. Yet, they are more in the middle of the field here.

    What metrics are used? Something we still have some capabilities in apparently is counted strongly.

    Edit: Finland VS Belgium (roughly, sites contradict eachother)

    * 239 main battle tanks vs 0
    * 2k armored vehicles vs 850
    * 60 SAM launchers vs 0
    * 286 MANPADS vs 0 (?)
    * 1068 AAA vs 0
    * 2685 ATGM vs 240 (counting only Spike, I don’t know if we still have MILAN)
    * 71k recoilless rifles vs 0 (?)
    * 740 artillery vs 12
    * 72+ Self-propelled artillery vs 0
    * 1248 Mortars vs ~130
    * 56 MRLS vs 0
    * 192 Aircraft vs 115
    * 62 fighter jets vs 44
    * Naval assets: 246 vs 17
    * Active personnel: 23k vs 26k (this is counted heavily maybe?)
    * Reserve personnel: 900k vs 7k
    * Paramilitary forces: 14k vs 0
    * Defense budget 6,3bn vs 5.5bn

    And that is not even considering motivation, support from the general population, training level (due to conscription and apparently good training). They are not as close as the numbers imply – or there is a huge gap between 50-rank countries and 60-rank countries.

  3. Bullshit ranking. Poland by far a much more powerful army than Germany. Arguably the most powerful EU member army.

  4. Derp derp clickety click yakety yak generator 101:
    1. Get broad geographical map.
    2. Sprinkle random numbers on top of map (do not add a unit or any kind of reference to the numbers, and definitely don’t add a source).
    3. Add a random title.
    4. Publish on social media.
