Social media companies need to monitor their content better and independent oversight is necessary to avoid things like this. They know what happens on their platforms but refuse to tackle the issue properly because it requires money and a desire to care.
This blows a hole in the “set up a legal asylum process and it will stop” meme labour brings up here, as you would never be able to claim asylum from Albania. They also get the advantage of not paying taxes AND free accommodation in hotels for the duration of their stay (no heating or leccy bills!) which easily offsets the 5k investment and explains why even at 5k people still pay it.
We need them. The country has an ageing population. These future doctors and scientists are our future .
