Looks like he made the best of it and it paid off!
Cool guy! Didn’t flake, didn’t strop, just went out there and gave the guy a great one on one comedy show. Respect to the guy!
Fucking props to the guy, if I was a standup and had only one person show up to something as big as the Fringe idek what I’d do. Deserves all the success that’s coming to him.
Love this story! Hope it gives his career a boost.
I was once part of an audience of two at a Fringe show, but that was intentional. A performance in a garden shed.
Did anyone else deadset think the dude was Jordan Petersen?
Good on him for delivering the performance but also good one the audience member, as weak as it sounds it’s doubtful i’d enjoy a one on one performance and have to bail.
A few comedians were on the radio last week talking about how important the fringe is for new acts. It’s where many performers get their first real shows in, where they learn to interact with the audience, where they learn to deal with disappointment, learn what works, learn what doesn’t. Several said their show is totally different by the end of the fringe – not that they deliberately change it, just that it evolves over the month. It’s basically where many comedians hone their craft and find their voice.
I hope this guy took a lot from it and enjoys the rest of his month here. It can only go up. The publicity from this article won’t hurt either…
Been to the Fringe a few times, attended at least half a dozen shows with four or less people in the audience. They do their best.
I was one of two people to see “Bob Blackmans Tray” at an 11pm show around 5 years ago and howled laughing all the way through, we had a nice chat after as well. Would recommend
Bridget Christie said that she performed a fringe show to 1 little old lady which became even more awkward when she got to the part that required her to declare an audience member a witch and burn her.
Fuck the Fringe, will cost this guy around 10k plus for a couple of weeks. They are being rinsed
