  1. “Wait wait what’s a national is it a type of cheese; yes I agree fetch me a national cheese” -Bojo distracted from work at home by cheese again

  2. Hmmmmm if only someone could have warned us about an incoming climate crisis.

If we continue on our current trajectory who knows where we will be in 50 years. I suspect we will see the collapse of a few more governments after droughts, famine and fires are more common which will bring more war and economic challenges. If we thought the migrant crises was bad now we haven’t seen nothing yet.

  3. No it isn’t It’s the complete lack of action by the government to fix the shambles that is the electricity prices They have known for months &still they sit on their arses.

  4. There are still thinktanks close to government denying climate change is a thing, HTF do you prepare for something until you have admitted it exists?

  5. “Anything important must be a national priority”

Such meaningless tripe. Easy to find anyone to make a quote about any subject to stick it in a headline like that.

  6. I remember being a child and reading about this global climate catastrophe in my kids encyclopaedia and now we’re here. Makes me nostalgic. 🥹

  7. Drats… I really wish professionals and academics in these fields had been warning us about this for years/decades.

    Damn them!

  8. Sorry but it’s far more important that we have two months to pick from the two turds that the Tory party has sent to take over from the last one

  9. I’m sure we can leave private, for-profit companies to work it out far too late and then blame the public for it instead.

  10. I would have thought the majority of people believe in climate change. I would just say it is hard to care so much about it, when you have a ton of issues in your life immediately like having enough to eat, feeding your kids, heating your house etc.

It is very easy from a privileged perspective to not recognise that many people out there, are currently just quite simply trying to survive the next week, month and year.

Before I ventured onto this sub, I would have assumed it would hard to be angry at them for not being overly concerned about the next 50 years, when they may not make it through winter.

  11. My prediction is we will do fuck or or the bare minimum and then suffer the consequences later

Blame the last Labour government for it

  12. Expect action one it is too late then. People will care more in the future, but not until climate migrants come here in huge numbers, the fact that we are having the driest year on record means nothing to many, so they do not see the climate emergency happening in front of them.

  13. Tories: *Oh boy a national crisis! I can’t wait to not do anything and then blame if on labour/brussels/poor people!*

  14. Well I hope the Financial Times has told the Tory government this, or are they just telling us, what we already know should be happening.

  15. Anyone else super glad they’re not having kids?

We may adopt/foster if we feel nurturing but I wouldn’t want to raise kids in this day and age.

I’d choose uncertain cold war nuclear fear over climate change any day.

  16. Too late, even nuclear isn’t looking viable now as we’ve seen in France recently with low water levels and the river water literally being too warm to cool reactors. Our options are basically a fusion miracle, blocking out the sun, or heat death.
