Norway’s unexpected energy crisis

  1. That’s bullshit. Its not that were not producing enough. It’s that we joined the European power market. Wich means Norwegian power goes to the highest bidders in Europe and if Norwegians want power they have to pay the same as the highest bidder.

  2. Norway needs to keep a safer distance from the EU. Yes, unity and all that, I’m all for it. But the EU is a sinking ship.

  3. The norwegian people has had very low elevtricity in the past, and this have been part of the total economy for each household. This year, we have seen up to 50 times the electricity price from previous years.
The reason is that now, we are connected to the european market, where electricity prices are substantial higher.

The other problem with household is that most household only rely on electricity for heating, as the price have been justified. We have no gas lines anywhere, so we cant install gas ovens. Many places have banned wood ovens, and the price to install a new wood oven (for the one who can) is way too expensive.

The norwegian people are being screwed (though there is a very weird price calculation to minimize the private bills paid by the government).
On the other hand, the southern hydropower plants are producing as much as they can, which bring a lot of money into the system. This does not help the average citizen.

  4. I’m new to this issue in Norway, what is the reason why the northern grid isn’t connected to the southern grid? It’s been so wet up here (Northern Norway) this summer the reservoirs must be doing alright.
