I always seem to miss benefitting from these incentives by just a few years, typical
Makes far more sense to lower for everyone. But good none the less.
Any plans for cutting Expressway fares? It’s my only way of getting to college and it wasn’t included in the last reduction.
At this stage just install bunkbeds and turn the buses into dormatories.
So the only people paying full price are the ones actually paying the taxes that subsidize it. Just stupid pandering, paving over the cracks. Take the hit and just reduce the fares, create decent bus lanes, routes and timetables, and watch the ridership go up. Public transport in this country needs to be overhauled to the point that there is an actual benefit to using it, or it will just continue to be the option of last resort for everyone
So basically the government are paying to subsidise commercial bus operators. That’s ridiculous. Something as essential and basic as transport should not be controlled by the private market. It should be run by the government and it should not be for profit. If the private market can generate profit from it, then the government should have buses on those routes. This is ridiculous. It’s just the most Irish solution ever.
This is being done as in a months time we’re going to see hundreds of news articles about students not being able to find anywhere to live
As if 19 to 23 year olds are the only ones going to college or something 🙄
I’m still annoyed that Balbriggan is the only train station considered “zone 6”, and thus gets no benefit from the TFI Dublin 90 minute fare.

But at least it’s not Gormanstown!
