  1. This is akin to disinformation, as what matters is the inequality after tax redistribution not the inequality before tax redistribution, as that’s the freaking point of tax redistribution

  2. Ireland is a very class-based society. You would never find that out from this reddit tho 🙂

People don’t realize how very unique this is: [https://imgur.com/a/hZxnzDs](https://imgur.com/a/hZxnzDs) (private beach property, locking out people from the shore)

  3. From the OECD:

Ireland has the most progressive system of taxes and transfers of any OECD member. Ireland ranks 32 of
34 among OECD members for income inequality before taxes and transfers. Taxation and transfers does more to reduce income inequality than in any other member. However, compared to other OECD countries, Ireland remains moderately unequal after taxes and transfers, ranking 15 of 34

  4. Some people work more than others. Some are smarter than others. Some will work a job they hate just because it pays well. Some can do work others can’t or won’t. Then there are others that are just lucky.

There’s an amount of inequality that isn’t just ok but essential. Someone working a job that is stressful and requires years of specialised experience deserves to be compensated more than someone working at something low skilled and mindless. As long as our redistribution system is working like others here have said then that’s what counts.
