Prestatyn girl makes homeless blankets from crisp packets

  1. I’m not trying to be a wet blanket, it’s a great way to reuse waste, but those blankets are pretty cheap and the energy needed for the iron and water is probably more than a new blanket.

  2. Not being horrible here, but when my life is so low I am living on the streets, a 12 year old girl giving me a blanket made of of crisp packets would probably be the day I decide to jump off the bridge.

  3. I’m not blaming the wee girl here as she’s obviously trying to do something nice, but giving people a blanket made of old crisp packets to me seems to say “see we’ve made a special blanket, made of rubbish that nobody else wants, won’t that suit you perfectly?!”

  4. Not one person is going to use those, no matter how many they “handout”

That poor girl is being used as part of the performative element of charity.

Also they are a raging fire hazard.

  5. Ngl, I thought “Prestatyn” was another weird Christian denomination for a minute, before Google revealed its just the name of a place in Wales.

  6. This is obviously a bit miss guided however these blankets could be really useful elsewhere like putting in windows during a heatwave or behind radiators or to line the roof of temporary structures to reflect heat in. If they are made anyway could be a great use
