In the first week of August, the situation got out of hand, turning into the largest ecological disaster on this river. The river, contaminated with unknown substances, carries thousands of tons of dead animals: fish, beavers, hundreds of unidentified lives (e.g. mussels), naturalists report the first dead birds, including storks. Polish Waters, knowing the situation perfectly well, did NOTHING for over a month, even when the situation was emergency. They reacted laconically only on August 10, 2022 under enormous pressure on social media. Thus, the decision-makers of “Wody Polskie” led by the president Dac endangered the lives and health of the inhabitants of the Odra Valley, their children and animals. They are responsible for the ecological hecatomb of hundreds of thousands of river creatures.

The disaster in the Odra River served as a pretext to recall the failure of Czajka in Warsaw and transferring responsibility to local governments.

➡ – Four years ago we dealt with the environmental disaster in Czajka in Warsaw, two years ago we dealt with recidivism. Two years ago in Gdańsk we dealt with a company sold by President Dulkiewicz to a French investor. Nobody has been held responsible. Do you know why? – asked Grzegorz Witkowski, deputy minister of infrastructure at the conference on the poisoned Odra.

    Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection, Przemysław Dac “Woda Polskie” and the Ministry of Infrastructure do not state whether dead fish and other animals were collected for toxicological tests, or whether everything was going to be disposed of. People collect money for research themselves, catch dead fish themselves. Meanwhile, on the German side, the authorities are calling for you not to collect these fish yourself, because there is a risk of soil contamination due to improper disposal. The Polish authorities do not care.There are already at least a dozen or so thousand fish, and it is known that this is only the tip of the iceberg, because we do not see most of the smaller fish. Many fish pickers have allergic reactions. The river is dying and the government just brushes it off.

  4. Contamination is so high that will not only affect living organisms in the water but wildlife animals, birds and possibly people living around for many years. “Należy się mandat 500zł” Oby gwóźdź do trumny pisowskiej.

  5. I live by the river and this both breaks my heart and angers me to no end. I used to be able to take my dogs for bike rides and to swim but can no longer do so 🙁
