Why was it abandoned?
From the wikipedia page:
> Two years after opening, Manchester City Council deemed The Crescents unsuitable for families and the housing scheme became adult-only.
Oops.
Brits seem to love old commie brutalist architecture and all the social ills that arise out of ugly buildings lol
It lasted 15 years. Only 15 years. That matches with what I personally think about a lot of modern architecture. Manages to appear desirable roundabout 20 years.
Built in 60s. Probably loaded with asbestos.
Mid-century urban planning was such a joke.
It got abandoned in literally 1984
Pure dystopia.
An awful waste. Looks like a prison.
This link has more details and a video of the flats from 1978. It’s https://www.mdmarchive.co.uk/artefact/8569/HULME_CRESCENTS_VIDEO_1978
