legendary, Putin’s words about the crew’s wives when he called them prostitutes. and the rejection of foreign aid ended up letting them in early so that they would find the corpses. they opened the submarine in 15 minutes.

The cover-up was such a shitshow. From lying to the families that the training exercises went well while knowing the sub had lost contact and aware that the exercise wasn’t complented, to forcibly sedating the mother of one of the victims. At some point Russian Navy boomers tried to blame NATO when the investigation showed the sub’s safety procedures were alarmingly mediocre.
And Putin is still in charge, poor Russians.
