Today marks 22 years since the Kursk Submarine Disaster. When the crew of 118 people died after the submarine exploded. Exactly why it sank is still a debated topic ranging from outdated equipment to foreign meddling.

  1. legendary, Putin’s words about the crew’s wives when he called them prostitutes. and the rejection of foreign aid ended up letting them in early so that they would find the corpses. they opened the submarine in 15 minutes.

  2. ‘state of the art’ russian technology. makes you wonder if the crew were offered the choice between death in prison and… death

  3. The cover-up was such a shitshow. From lying to the families that the training exercises went well while knowing the sub had lost contact and aware that the exercise wasn’t complented, to forcibly sedating the mother of one of the victims. At some point Russian Navy boomers tried to blame NATO when the investigation showed the sub’s safety procedures were alarmingly mediocre.
