Its for a small company that I found through Jobbird. There is barely any info on them online.
Its for a WFH job putting together packages
I’m 99% sure this a scam, cause drivers license is a legit ID here, but it doesn’t have your BSN at the front, so they want to scam ya.
At this stage of the pandemic, stating they cannot meet you at all is strange.
Also, providing a copy of your ID-card and debit card is great way to get your identity abused/stolen.
No I don’t think this is normal when applying for a job. At least I never experienced this. It also sounds kinda like a scam imo. However after meeting with the company and singing the contract i did had to give them a copy of my passport and bank number. But that’s only after meeting with them and singing the contract.
I’d be very cautious. I have never experienced anything similar when applying for a job. Also there are some spelling mistakes in the text which is usually a bright red flag for this sort of stuff.
Smells like identity theft here. They only need those details further on in the hiring process
Looks like a scam. You never hand over a front and back copy of your ID. Unless you black out your BSN
Asking a copy of your ID and bank card is only normal if you already got the job. Nobody will be asked to give a copy of these just to “take part in the interviewing process”.
Thanks for all the replies! Think I’m gonna have to pass this one unfortunately 🙁
This sounds like identity theft to me
It’s a scam
As comments have pointed out, it’s perhaps a tad weird, but, consider:
* Most companies have a __legal requirement__ to use a process to guarantee they have _some_ idea that their employees are trustworthy. This usually involves at least getting a VOG (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag – basically checking if you have a criminal record). That’s kinda pointless if you simply say your name is “Joe Q. Anonymouse” of course.
* Cheating on the interview is a thing that happens when applying to big companies, especially if done remotely. For example with programming jobs: Simply have a friend or someone you pay do the coding exercises done during the interview, or even do the interview entirely, and then you show up for the job, clueless and incapable. If you look a little bit similar, or the job is fully remote, or it’s simply not that likely you ever even see the person that did the technical interview, how would the company ever know the person who answered the technical questions isn’t at all the person they hired?
* There was a ton of effort put in by companies to adjust to the COIVD-19 situation. However, far less effort is being put in to go back to ‘normal’ so to speak. I wouldn’t be all too surprised if a company completely reforms how they do interviews, forced by COVID, and that after COVID, they keep it because remote interviewing is useful, but, they failed to update the text so it now feels out of date. If it’s an actual scam, I’m not sure they’d keep this on, it’s making you think this is a scam, no? Mail (“nigerian prince”) scams intentionally add typos and all that because only an idiot who falls for something that obvious can actually be convinced to part with their money quickly. But if this is a scam I’m not sure they’d want that, so a good scammer wouldn’t mention COVID here.
The ‘bankpas’ part sounds the most fishy to me. However, in basis it doesn’t contain secret information (your bank account number isn’t a secret). Presumably it’s for stacking assumptions: Whilst the bank never made any such promises, various entities consider “is capable of providing a fotocopy of the physical bank card” as somehow indicative of “is the person whose name is on the card”. Which is obviously baloney.
Always be on your guard, but I can see how this is just a bit careless but legit. That doesn’t mean you _have to_ do what they say, just, before you immediately go: SCAM! Eject! – there might be an alternative explanation.
Use the dutch government phone app to black out some parts.
Applying? Not normal
After you got the job? Required (not the selfie, tho)
Ik zou overwegen om even contact op te nemen met de politie. Het lijkt mij geen zuivere koffie en ze zijn zo specifiek dat het vermoedelijk identiteitsfraude is.
Sounds like an MLM scheme. Soon they’ll have you signing a form where you consent to pay them for materials with which you make packages at home and sell them through your own “company”.
The ID, maybe, the bankpass is just a scam
No I find this very strange and a red flag for ID theft. I would see if you cab arrange an online videocall if not, run.
I would not trust this for a single second.
Also: on Marktplaats scammers (sellers) say they are located at very remote or far away towns. On the Waddeneilanden, or somewhere at the outskirts of the country. Zeeuws Vlaanderen for example. That’s why people who are interested in their “products” are less likely to pick up the product but instead choose for receiving it by mail (which never happens).
I am just saying because this company seems to be located in Zeeland. Not a red flag perse but it adds up.
If you are applying i get the ID check but your bank info sounds of to me
No this all sounds a bit dodgy
They are asking things that would be normal if you got the job. Not when you are still applying. So, I wouldn’t give them any of it.
Maybe it will result in an end to the application with negative results, but I wouldn’t want to work in such a place anyway.
In addition to what others are saying, the language here is a bit of a red flag. Lots of mistakes, suddenly switching formality (je/u) and tone.
Most companies would have someone to write these ads who is at least somewhat good at Dutch, not with 3 mistakes in a three-sentence paragraph. A mistake here and there can happen, but this looks suspicious.
Holy…this is nothing but red flags, you sure you didn’t accidentally boot up a soviet campaign in Red Alert 3?!
Let’s list’em all off:
-Your personal photo is never asked alongside your ID, especially not in this manner by any recruiting company in the Netherlands.
-A driver’s license, especially a Dutch driver’s license is valid as personal identification. That said, i can actually let this one slide as personal ID can be accepted in cases where they might reject a driver’s ID based on corporate preference.
-The Netherlands has no ongoing COVID restrictions and face-to-face is allowed. The fact that they claim otherwise is seriously suspect.
-When photocopies are made of an ID, no company in their right mind photocopies the back, this is a clear attempt at getting all of the serial numbers on an ID.
-Bankpasses are never photocopied by any recruiting company. At most they’ll ask for an account number to deposit wages and/or travel expenses on. Otherwise they DO NOT ASK THIS.

Damn, i can hear the Red Alert 3 theme in the back of my head now.
Bedankt allemaal!

Absolutely not!
An employer only needs your BSN and a copy of your passport until **after** you have been hired. https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/identificatieplicht/vraag-en-antwoord/wat-moet-ik-als-werkgever-doen-om-te-voldoen-aan-de-identificatieplicht
Red flags everywhere. What is the company?
Definitely a scam.
