Today, Broceliande’s forest started to burn. This is the forest where it is thought the king arthur’s legend might be born, one of the oldest and most beautiful in France. I’ve read that sweden send some plane and firefighter to help us fight this fire.

  1. Anytime!

I still remember the feeling of seeing European fire fighters arriving in Sweden back in 2018 when we had horrible forest fires. People were lining the roads when the convoys passed. Time to pay if forward.

  2. I didn’t know Sweden sent help but I’m glad we did. France is fantastic in so many ways and awesome to explore as a tourist. Been there many times myself and I’m not done yet.

  3. Waste of money, waste of resources, I would never have let it happen if I was in charge.

Why? Forest fires is first of all a completely normal part of nature. Forests are shaped by sun, wind, rain and fire. Never before in history has so little forest area burned as today. Why? Because forests today are not a part of nature, they are planted orchards meant to give money for corporations. No one cares if the forests provides habitat for species, the only concern is whether the owner will be rich when it all will be cut down or not. Forest fires limits those profits, hence why natural and beneficial forest fires are now deemed bad.

If you have ever been in a very old, untouched forest, you will see black marks everywhere on the old trees, an old memory from forest fires from many years before, which cleared the land and paved way for new grasses and herbs that provides food for all animals inhabiting it.

Second, sure, with global warming, forest fires will be more common and hard to avoid, and when they do ravage, the old habitat will be gone forever and a new landscape will rise from the ashes better suited for warmer climates. Altough sad, is the new reality we will have to accept while we do what we can to lower our carbon emissions, I just can’t fathom how any sane, thinking person thinks it’s a good idea to forever plow massive resources into controlling nature, into taming the weather, the climate and mother earth.

What else do you want to do? Water all the plants in the forests so they don’t die from lack of rain? Cover the sky to protect them from the excess sun?

As grotesque as when Dubai politicians try to make it snow in the desert to create snowy hills. Accept reality, don’t try to control nature.

  4. Yeah im going to need a couple of bottles of red from you now. And some cheese while youre at it.

On a more serious note, hope they get control of the fire quickly!

  5. Har inget med Frankrike att göra men de polska brandmännen som och hjälpte oss 2018 släkte en skogsbrand nära min bästa vän då. Det är kul att länder inom EU hjälper varandra när det verkligen behövs.

  6. this post confused me for an entire minute as I tried to figure out how we sent planes to fight a forest fire in 1868 😉
