As an immigrant to and permanent resident in Norway I have to admit that I am not surprised by the absence of a global perspective in this country. By all means, it is beautiful to live in and at least a medium term sustainable choice… for me. In the long term, this country needs to change.
Elias!
A rich person that travels more with private airplanes than anyone else, is shocked that normal people don’t care much about the plight of people in other countries.
She has the privilege of being able to care about it, us normal mortals have to care about trying to afford electricity this winter. I wish she would shut the fuck up, the pretentious worthless cunt has done nothing of value her entire life but be an enormous waste of resources and pollution.
Kind of a preachy article; the author seems disconnected. Norway is a small and for the most part globally-irrelevant country of only 5.5 million people. There are over 70 *cities* that have more people than Norway does. Yet Norway is a major, major player in terms of contributing money and ideas and people to global development programs – in the UN, in women’s issues, in LGBT+ issues, in infrastructure development, in peacekeeping and peacemaking, in diplomacy, in food security, in science, on and on on. The positive impact Norway has is already over-sized for so small a country. It is not a superpower that can change the global order. It is a small country that does good outside its borders. There is therefore nothing wrong with looking inwards to make sure your own life is as good as it can be.
