Lol, insurance job gone wrong. It’s not exactly in the best bit of the village.
We live 15 miles away and our car, washing and anything that’s outside and stain-able is covered in what looks like rubber particles. The cloud was enormous – I feel sorry for people who are close to it.
“oh no, a million tyres that we have inexplicably stored here for many years after being paid £2-5 each to dispose of them properly have just all gone on fire before we could properly dispose of them at a massive cost. What a nightmare!! And our company also only has £97 assets?” *angrily drives off in an Audi Q7*
That’s what that smoke was!
I was working up by Belvoir Castle and stopped there for lunch. I could see the massive plume of black smoke in the distance but couldn’t find any news of peat or forest fires.
Crazy to think it was 35 miles away but clear as day.
I swear every single tyre dump has had a fire at some point.
Do any of them actually recycle any tyres, they just seem to just collect the tyres for a decade and when they run out of space they have a mysterious fire.
