Hope he’s allowed to slip away now, what an awful drawn out saga this has been.
Hopefully this is it now. Let the poor boy die with some dignity.
I don’t understand, a hospice is for people that don’t have long left to live, whereas Archie is already dead, that live support machine could be vital for someone else. The mother is absolutely selfish.
After reading one of the previous judgements describing in detail how his condition deteriorated, I hope at least the experience gained for doctors, medicine, and for future law in this area is worth it. Nothing that has been done for him since 31st of May has helped him at all.
Well done to courts and nhs, can’t be the easiest case. Lets hope they allow him to go now properly and no more holding off the poor lad needs to rest in peace. This is been going on far too long.
Hopefully they don’t repeat the same circuit going to the supreme court to appeal, ECHR, UN…
Really feel for the hospital staff through all this, will be getting no end of abuse trying to do their jobs
I always think in cases like this, how much do the family regret spending days in court and with lawyers instead of with their child.
next up appeal to the court of appeal, denied, appeal to the supreme court, denied, appeal to the UN, denied, appeal to the ECHR, denied. change the request slightly and appeal to the high court, denied, appeal to the court of appeal… etc. rinse and repeat until archie is nothing but a puddle of necrotic fluid. so sad
Hollie Dance needs to spend less time in court and more time with her son. Let the poor boy pass away peacefully and with the shred of dignity he has left after this media circus.
Why can’t the doctors scan him now (without the family’s consent as it would be in his best interests) and then following the results of the scan, pronounce him dead?
The family (who supposedly care about him) are so focussed on milking the situation that they are losing precious time with him. I think this is more about their “Go Fund Me” appeal for money (which they are not spending on care or legal costs) than anything else.
He could just be a skeleton in a bed and the family would still be convinced he will wake up.
Papers filed with the Court of Appeal in 3…2…1…
That would be another three days delay for him to die ‘naturally’.
It’s obvious what the game is here.
EDIT: As expected
“The Court of Appeal confirmed it had received an application for permission to appeal the latest decision.”
That poor child, it’s a good job he’s already dead, so he’s not aware of the shit-show surrounding him
Good. The parents are complete nutcases and need to be treated as such
The mum said on Times Radio “I just feel like this hospital have so much to answer to.” Really? Erm, what exactly? The fact that they did their job despite the threats by her and/or her followers? I hope any inquiry looks into that as well.
Again, the doctors who know what they are doing are being trashed by this deluded woman who is being funded by Christian fundamentalists who have no clue about anything. We probably won’t hear the end of this for a long time to come as she will be wheeled on any show or talk to any newspaper that will listen to her rantings and the Christian nutcases egging her on.
My final thoughts on all of this just goes out to the poor NHS staff. Knowing the mother/her supporters she’ll probably try to demonise them despite their dedication to her child all this time.
I hate people who do this, purely for selfish reason. My childhood best friend was sick all her life, when she was 16 she caught a cold that turned into pneumonia. She end up in a coma in a vegetative state… for 6 months. Brain dead for most of it, her parents just took the fact that they had heard of miracles and could see her chest moving up and down. They fought to keep her on life support just like this.
She knew she would die young and she would have hated how her parents treated her. She was everything good in the world. Instead of grieving the way Faye wanted them to, they dragged it out, her little sister had to watch and now she doesn’t even talk to her parents, she can’t even look at them. She hates them that much.
Its amazing we have life support machines, its amazing the technology we have. But we cannot play god, we can’t resurrect the brain dead. We shouldn’t. Human life is really not that precious. Its only precious to the ones who love us.
I feel terrible for the family, but I’m really getting mad at the implication that “a good mother” fights for her child to the bitter end, no matter how cruel it is for the child.. no actually, that isn’t true.
I watched an episode of a U.S. programme called “Dr G: Medical Examiner”. In it, the medical examiner (we might call her a pathologist [ed] in the U.K.) performed an autopsy on a patient who had been kept on life-support for some considerable time.
When she opened the skull to examine the brain, there was nothing there: the brain had become liquified and had drained away.
This is why we have to *listen* to the medics and doctors when they tell us that there is no viable prospect of life. We can sit by a loved-one’s bedside, holding their hand and whispering in their ear. But we often have *no idea* about what is happening medically. It’s best to humbly accept that we don’t know everything: that’s what experts are for.
Please, let the boy die peacefully. His mother needs to step away from the media and grieve privately. The NHS did everything they could, but Archie died the day he hung himself. I hope there’s an inquest and we find out what actually happened.
As a parent I have no sympathy to the mum and her clearly money grabbing news story storyline
Any decent parent would understand that their child needs dignity and to be allowed to go without this media bullshit surrounding him
She doesn’t care about him in the slightest in my opinion it’s all about her
There was a whole thing in the late nineties early 2000’s regarding Terry Schiavo. She was a woman who had a severe eating disorder and had a heart attack at age 25 and was left in a vegetative state in 1998. Her husband wanted to end life support and feeding tube and her parents fought it for seven years in court to the point of the government getting involved and passing legislation to keep her feeding tube in. Her parents insisted she was responding to stimuli and should be kept alive. It was a HUGE story here in the US with right to lifers insisting she was still responsive etc. finally the feeding tube was removed and she passed. Upon autopsy it was discovered that her brain had extensive damage throughout and was only half the size of a normal brain. The “responses” witnessed by her parents were simply reflex responses, not responses to stimuli. Crazy case, I still can’t believe the government got involved to the extent that it did.
They are accepting that Archie could ‘die’ during transit, in an ambulance that cannot have the parents in it due to the medical equipment needed to sustain his body. So their version of Archie ‘dying with dignity’ amounts to his body flatlining alone (bar medical staff) in an ambulance, without family being anywhere near. Just to say fuck you to the hospital that has had to keep a dead child’s body ‘alive’ for four months.
I get the awful feeling that they only wanted to move him to hospice care so he’d likely flatline during the transport and they’d have more impetus for a wrongful death suit.

This isn’t the first time Hollie Dance has [used Archie in the media](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2774629/Boy-four-suffers-agonising-burns-Boots-pharmacy-gave-ear-drops-eye-infection.html). She seems like a complete narcissist. Let the boy rest.
