Did anybody else have these in their Primary School? You would “Buy” €1 “Stamps” and “Save” €20 per leaflet, but I can’t remember anybody cashing them in!

Yep, you can still get them.
Oh I remember these. You could cash them in, or you could use them to deposit the money into your An Post savings account. Then you’d leave the money there until you almost forgot the account, until one day you found your little book with all your deposits and withdrawals written in it and realise there was an An Post account somewhere in your name with a *mind melting* £40 in it.
Never knew it was Cyril’s savings card… I got so much of his money.
Used to save them and cash in just before Christmas to go Christmas present shopping. Was always a great time going yo town with my parents on Dec 8.
OH my God, I am loling. I got this after my Confirmation and then forgot about it until the summer I turned 15. Myself and my twin rediscovered it and used it to pay for cheap table wine (1 litre was 5e and we’d split it) and a 10 pack of Johnny Blue (also very cheap in 2003). Wow. I just sent this photo to my sister.
A perfect scam if ever I’ve seen one. As a kid it was addictive to fill up the book.
They always ended up in the bin.
Scam.
We had Sammy Stamps
Aw wow this brings back memories. My Gran used this as a way to give me a bit of pocket money. She’d pick up a stamp or two when she’d go to the post office. It’d take a good while for me to save it all but it never stayed long in my post office account at all. The thrill (and slight guilt) of lodging it and then withdrawing it immediately as a kid was wild!
Realising I could use a damp sponge to add in the stamps was a life changer, I used to avoid sticking them in until I had enough because the taste of the glue on the back of the stamps was super strong [insert Bart licking envelopes here]. I feel sorry for all the post office workers who had to handle so many of these cards…
I did. My sister kept nicking my stamps the gobshite
1 euro? I remember when the stamps were 50p
Remember my nanny buying be stamps every week. The picture just give such nostalgia
I remember these. My nanny used to get them for me and get me the stamps. It was great and I always felt really cool getting the money for them. I completely forgot about it until now.
I cashed mine into my post office account, think its all still in there
My Mam does this now for my Nephews.
Jaysus, what a nostalgia trip! Used to save up loads of these “Acorn Stamps” when I was little to go towards getting SNES games!
I also remember the squirrel saving box!
