Been like that there for years, they demolished all the affordable accommodation.
>In the last academic year, St Andrews University had 10,425 students, an increase of 2,025 from five years ago.
Insane.
I’ve been there a few times…. that is a massive number considering the place was already bursting at the seams.
This was a problem when I attended St Andrew’s in 2008. Common spaces were converted into shared dorms. They’ve made the situation worse since then.
Go to Methil, it’s not far. 😉
I live in Dundee and am currently looking for new flatmates and have had several requests from students in St Andrew’s. I thought that was a bit strange but this makes sense.
Absolutely loved my time in St Andrews, but housing was always a stress – even before the days of airbnb.
Edinburgh uni faced the same problem – but bought and built their own halls
Stop enrolling students and expect them to sleep on the streets
Not rocket science
Don’t get me wrong St. Andrews is a great uni in a lovely area, but why pick a uni when you know you can’t afford rent. It’s not like there’s a shortage of decent universities in the UK
