Tidal shift in the population, or thought leaders now preaching a different sermon?
>Radiation from nuclear waste? Safety risks? Danger of large-scale disasters? Who cares. Those are things you worry about when you have working heat. Electricity first, then ethics.
That’s some Spiegel-quality writing right there.
Let the men, women, and children of the Earth come forth to gather and behold the power of Atom! All hail Atom, bask in his mighty glow!
Turns out all it took for Germans to change their minds was to change the name from scary nuclear to atomic
Ok, the article is kinda shit (stopped reading).First it starts thst its only about keeping the remaining ones running. Then ofc they ask some 50 year old, how about someone who is 30 and not almost dead and probably not an avid CDU voter. Like dude, just bc the nuclear plants keep running doesn’t mean u can actually heat your home, u first need to change your heater. Additionally there are other problems with the power plant, such as missing stuff.
Building new ones? Bra, takes too long, next.
Ahhh, yes. The right block, again slamming from the right. CDU, AFD, FDP, CSU and majority of their voters are for building new power plants. HOW ABOUT NOT BEING CORRUPTED AND ACTIVE BUILD RENEWABLE ENERGY U MOTHERFUCKING TWATS. WHO WAS IT WHO IS STOPPING MOST SOCIAL/RENEWABLE POLICIES HUH???!!!!! NOT THE GREENS, IT WAS EVEN THE GREEN MINISTER WHO SAID THAT THE PLANTS MIGHT CONTINUE BEING RUN.
MY FUCKING GOD. PLS DISABLE PEOPLE 60+ BEING ABLE TO FUCKING VOTE. So politicians wont continue making politics for half dead people.
Until zaphorizia NPP blows up 😬
You want to know a secret? It’s not gonna happen.
The Bavarians are just screaming, so in the event they get blackouts they can point to the nuclear phaseout and away from their own energy politics.
Opposition is doing opposition things (and I very much include the FDP).
And Scholz and Habeck are just dragging their feet until the population has moved on.
Any extension would have to be prepared month ago. (I do believe if the assessment in march had found that nuclear power could help, Habeck might have started the process to start the extension.) Now, its 2023 before the necessary laws would have been signed.
This is only about extending the lifetime of the last three reactors as long we are in this energy crisis. In the medium term we will still phase out nuclear completely.
