Man (29) in a critical condition after assault by up to 10 teenagers in George’s Dock

  1. Ah enough is enough of this shite. The Gard’s aren’t stupid, they know the problem areas and the gangs responsible for this antisocial bullshit, they need to do something NOW.

  2. Absolutely no repercussions likely unless this man dies. Honestly above all housing crisis etc, the free rein these scrotes get is the thing that angers me the most about Dublin.

  3. This is horrible but I’d also like to point out the horrible standard of the article. It’s like a child wrote it. “Sources say the suspect was in the locality with his e-scooter when he was approached by a gang of youths who assaulted him”.

Using the word suspect instead of victim like wtf

  4. Without reading the article I’m assuming 0 arrests have been made and “investigations are ongoing”

  5. It’s just becoming too much, any one of us could have been that guy.

So senseless. We’re talking about a normal young guy being attacked to the point of critical condition in the middle of corporate Dublin on a Sunday evening by a group of teenagers.Madness.

  6. You can easily walk for an hour around the city centre without seeing a sinlge Garda. Try that in any other European city.

  7. I don’t what to say anymore about Dublin city centre

Show me another capital city in a First World country with a population of just 1.4 million with so many social issues

And yet Dubs on here constantly compare it to cities like Paris (14 million), London (9 million) and New York (20 million) and say “it’s not just Dublin”

Our capital city’s centre is not normal in any shape or form

(/drinks in downvotes from deluded Dubs with a nice cup of tea)

  8. Honestly, is there anything we can do to keep ourselves safe? I’m sure this man saw these scrotes coming towards him as well.
Or has it just become “wrong place at the wrong time”.
It wasn’t even that late at night, or a shady alley, and all suspects are underage! Like wtf! It’ll get worse once we get into early sunsets.

  9. Aand the government want to increase the defence force budget to €1.5 billion to buy more canon fodder for when the Russians never come.

If you spent that €1.5 billion on the Gardaí, you can hire another ~15,000 guards almost doubling the size of the force, plonk half of them in Dublin and eradicate lots of petty/violent crime by having them on every street corner.

But no, lets keep ignoring the meaningful issues and throw money down the drain. Legal system is fucked too but I cba to write more.

  10. Absolutely no surprise theres been another incident in the area. The Pearse Street flats, across the pedestrian bridge into the IFSC every evening has those cunts out in force.

The gardai do try to come through to discourage them, but you need them there 24/7 which they dont have the man power to even get close to it. Not to mention the young cunts just scatter into their flats or back alleys at first sign of authority.

The courts need to be stronger on discouraging this and those communities need restructuring. Separate them, demolish the flats in the area with all the mold and rats, and build newer flats that dont go straight to shit with no way of managing the people inside.

  11. Companies telling the government they are having a hard time recruiting talent due to housing and crime- that’s the only way the government is gonna do something. If the almighty corporations tell them to-

  12. Bring in force labour this is getting out of hand down that area, of the parents will moan there’s nothing to do for the kids, make them clean up the streets or send them off to a boot camp

  13. I lived in the area. It’s a fucking dump. The youth there are completely and utter cunts and really at this stage, there’s absolutely no sugar coating it. They are growing up in an environment where they can take all they pent up anger and frustration from growing up in a shitty place and take it out on people who absolutely don’t deserve it.

Real consequences need to be given to these absolute subhuman pieces of trash. Its gone beyond a fucking joke at this stage. It’s not fair that our only option is to try run away, stand there and take the hiding, or risk fighting back to defend ourselves and end up in court. It’s a fucking joke.

  14. Dublin is in the shitter when it comes to law and order. Fucking Gotham appears safer. These little cunts need something to fear and no, I don’t fucking mean Batman.

  15. I’m litterly thinking is this one of my friends? There are lots of problems that couse this but first thing is first they need to clean up the streets and lock and make an example of them

  16. We need to start being tougher on teenage anti-social behaviour and assault. Make them actually fear repercussions. I think it’s an issue that is being largely ignored politically since tougher laws would be seen as a step ‘backwards’ by many.

  17. You couldn’t pay to me go anywhere near IFSC/Sheriff Street area alone these days. Absolute kip of a place. Shameful and inexcusable.

  18. I hope this person survives, and I hope he recovers from this horrific experience. If this happened to me I wouldn’t leave my home after this. This person was probably just on their way home after work, trying to live their life only to be pounced upon.

    Terrifying.

  19. I know there is the argument that this is rare and the crime numbers show that xyz etc. What is the constant is that when incidents DO occur, the penalties are so fucking minor.

Even that youth lad who stabbed Urantsetseg Tserendorj and killed her. That had a hung jury on that. Even on a manslaughter charge. They tried to argue that he was drunk so his coordination was off and he didn’t intend on killing her. You know just doing the casual knife waving around someone’s face while trying to mug someone, we’ve all been there.

What’s going to be the excuse here even if they catch them? They were high on coke , rough childhood, ‘I just stomped on his head, wasn’t trying to kill him’.

The sense there is no justice almost everyone can agree on, I know these things don’t happen every day. How these roving gangs of teenage can go around making people’s lives hell is beyond me. This is obviously severe but there are shopkeepers and businesses also being fucked over by these sorts of people every day. Nothing is ever done until they murder someone, and even then, you hear all the same copy-paste excuses.

  20. i really dont want to say this, but i have to say this. i hope someday a high positioned TD or their loved one gets into this situation, so that they’ll wake up and realize whats going on with the injustice in this country

  21. If there’s any single issue vote that would boom any party in the polls apart from housing and healthcare it would be clamping down on anti social behaviour.

I find it shocking that no party has a fleshed out plan for increased garda powers and judicial reform. Hardly a controversial issue to allow scum like this to breath the same air as normal law abiding citizens.

  22. If you look at any of the literature on teenage crime, from the reform prison groups, to the dept of justice website there’s little about victims, except a little hand waving at the start. The rest is about the poor criminals who are from a bad socio economic situation, or suffer from a lack of facilities.

That kind of rhetoric might have made some sense in the 80s, not that it justified anything, but the IFSC area is an expensive part of the city for private buyers or renters, based on nearness to the city centre and the actual enormous facilities of the centre of the city.

Furthermore the socio-economic background of the locals is considerably higher than many of their victims, they were brought up in a rich democratic western society after all. The people they are attacking are often poor immigrants.

  23. The irony of feeling more safe in Belfast than I’ve ever felt in Dublin. Not suggesting there’s no crime in Belfast, but after being attacked twice in Dublin, I’m always on edge when I see a group of teens or tweens causing a ruckus.

  24. Only a matter of time before people start arming themselves. The courts have failed the ordinary citizenry in Ireland and especially Dublin. Ordinary decent people despise these thugs and the whole class of people they represent to be honest. I would imagine a lot of foreign born people living in the city have already started carrying weapons. I know I would.

  25. Can’t wait until the first person takes a bat to the head of one these cunts. I’ll raise him as my hero.

  26. Don’t know why they’re even reporting this story. I can predict exactly what will happen:
    – All scumbags identified from CCTV
    – Court case in 1 – 2 years
    – All scumbags let off with a slap on the wrist because they’re “of good character” and “shocked about what happened”, and because “custodial sentences don’t solve anything”
    – All these scumbags reoffend
    – Innocent people continue to be terrorised by gangs of teenage scumbags

  27. Disgusting. It’s gone from kids just shouting and being pains in the ass to full in nearly killing someone.

I used to stand up to the kids what crowded around a store I worked in. Constantly moving them along and being called names under their breaths but they moved. Now I’d say I’d stand a bit further away and not approach if there is a huge gang. Sad.

Kids broke a window in a van of a neighboring business where I work now. Gards arrived to us because we have cameras all over. You see theses kids on bikes and scooters. All 12~. Rock is thrown and smash. The gard sees the kids face and sighs. My colleague asked what does this mean? Caught them red handed.

“I’ll go pick up this kid. Bring him home and tell his parents that he committed criminal damage. I’ll tell them he will have a court date and all that….then his parents will turn and start shouting for me to get out of their house and leave their son alone”,

Sure enough the gard did that then went to the van owner and he dropped charges because he knows he will never see that kid in court. Revolving door of crap causing kids to get away with near murder at this stage

  28. This happens multiple times a year. Nothing is ever done. Anyone can be caught in the wrong time or place. You work a 40 hour week, paying for an overly expensive apartment, paying a fuck of load of taxes for the benefit of public resources, only to be beaten or murdered by the lawless children whose ‘parents’ are nothing but dregs and scroungers. Take away their dole, force them to parent, force them to have an iota of responsibility for these kids they decide to shit out.

  29. If a parent is a legal guardian of someone under 18, then they should face the legal ramifications of the actions of their child. That would clean things up pretty quickly

  30. Truth of the matter is if you get started on by a group, “kids” or any group, you’re only really left with 2 choices, run away as fast as possible if you can especially, if you’re largely outnumbered or be absolutely ruthless enough to instil fear, and by ruthless I mean fight with all the underhanded methods you can muster, aim for the eyes, throat, balls, hit em while they’re down, use keys/phone or whatever you can to maximise damage, doesn’t matter how badly you cripple a group of savages like that, doesn’t matter if they’re 13/14, leave them hospitalised and flee the scene. Gardaí generally won’t bother to find you and maybe other groups of scum will learn a lesson.

If you are caught you’re likely looking at a sentence for defending yourself but it’s better than being left crippled or dead imo.

Choose option one if you can but have no remorse when left with no choice, most these assholes will laugh at ruining lives and deserve no sympathy regardless of the shitty lives they lead.

  31. It’s only a matter of time before groups of vigilantes start patrolling their areas with hurls, and it will be the gardas and the justice systems fault. Just smash their hands and fingers and fuck up their legs and knees, nothing too serious. A type of “punishment” beating I suppose.

Jokes aside though, I’m 100% serious if someone hurt my family or put them in fear and the gardai were nowhere to be seen there’s not a hope I’d sit at home and do nothing.

  32. In my opinion if you stab someone in the neck with a knife you bring to a robbery you committed, then you absolutely have intent to use that knife to help commit the crime. Everyone is aware a knife in a crime is for stabbing to succeed or to get away with the crime without being followed.

This brings me to my next point. A juror of your piers…

A lot of people I know are retarded and couldn’t agree on whether Indian people are brown or dark orange. Let alone the fact that if someone got stabbed in the neck whether or not the kid did it with intent

  33. I propose snipers on the roofs round these problem areas to take out wee scrotes if they cause bother. Not firing bullets obviously, that would be inhumane. But chemical darts that make them shit their pants.

  34. How many of ye in this sub have teenage kids and have no fucking clue where they are or what they are up to?

Blame the Guards, blame the council, blame the state BUT I blame the parents.
