The local ex-FG TD liked this comment. I voted for him last time, but with this kind of sentiment no wonder he lost last time and not a hope he will win next time. Clearly out of touch with the working class, which is 95% of his constituency.

What’s the constituency?
You’re kind of proving his point.
He’s basically saying “look at how good we’re doing and don’t question it”. I’ve looked through the thread and he either ignores or fobs off anyone with questions about the spending of tax on public services, whether it’s the mean or median salary or Ireland having the highest costs of living and rent in the EU he ignores it.
I would usually say it’s better to ignore these types of people but these things can reach far and wide on social media and should be questioned.
His correct in saying Ireland has a good take home pay. However maybe we can compare the cost of living. Quality of pay should be related to how much you have left at the end of the month.
They seem to think that more people are supporting SF than any other party right now because of….what? Magic?
No, it’s because while it’s definitely good in Ireland for some people, there are a *lot* of people it is not working for, and they’re sick of the old establishment parties. It’s no good having high wages if the cost of living is so high it more than cancels it out.
Isn’t it possible too that the average seems higher because the very high earners are skewing it? There are a lot of working poor in Ireland. Sometimes entire towns where basically everyone is struggling.
This is what people were like in 2004. ‘We’re all rich, STFU!’
So an ex-TD liked a tweet you disagree with. Thanks for letting us know
Do you reckon he was in touch in February 2020?
What…. He liked a tweet?
Quick, string him up by the balls in the town square!!
Cost of living fella
We do have good take home pay, but it is hard to compare like-with-like. Many countries have social deductions we don’t have or mandatory private insurance.
Average ≠ median
