But the other 30% will go ahead and vote them into power anyway. And another 30% won’t vote at all, and that’s how ‘first past the post’ elections work and why the UK is ruined !
only half ?
is this another way of expressing that Labour are consistently ahead in the polls, but very likely not enough to sustain the lead until a general election, where the Tories can time good-news and tax-cuts.
Also they only need 40% of people to think they should be re-elected, not 50%+
‘We don’t like elites telling us what to do’
*votes Tory again*
Well if you look at the current conservative party leadership, you could only accuse them of hypocrisy if the walked past a homeless person and didn’t kick them in the face. But then the Conservative party has sort of reached a stage similar to a children’s party when the clown has started waving his penis around and someone has shat in the toilet and it is stinking the house out and some of the parent actually thought it was a swingers party and someone has pleasured themselves with the birthday cake.
Funny how the British voting public get to see what the Tories get up to when they’re in office and then they go and vote for them again.
>half
Just beam. Me. Up.
That’s about normal. They came to power on 44% of those who bothered to vote. 56% of people didn’t support them then. If anything 52% saying they’re unfit is a slight improvement.
ONLY HALF?!?
That only half of the electorate want the Tories gone after their performance over the last few years is quite remarkable. And it is certainly very worrying for the future of the UK.
We need either tactical voting or a left alliance (Labour, Green, Lib Dem etc). So that after the GE they can demonstrate they have a working government.
Top of the list of the issues needs to be the cost of living, energy security and then proportional representation (and whatever that looks like as a government structure).
I really don’t understand why we’re ok with the failed government left in the wake of yet another failed Prime Minister getting to choose amongst itself which of the failures is then best placed to just carry on rinsing us for everything.
We’re the personification of victims in an abusive relationship we aren’t quite ready to step away from.
Those who want them out are going to have pinch their nose and vote for the party that has the greater chance of getting to 323.
Voter apathy will make sure they remain though. The alternatives are not perfect but they are better than the Tories and I would back Starmer over Truss or Sunak, even if he is not my first choice for PM. People need to stop saying “They are all the same!” when some are worse than others.
Only 50%
I swear to christ, the tory candidate in the next election could go around the country and personally spit in the hair of every single voting age person and they’d still get back in. There is no level of awful they could sink to that would change anyone’s mind
This Sky PM thing is excruciating, Truss is wooden as fuck and keeps telling people how trustworthy she is. Errr Fizz with Liz!
In many elections fewer than half of the voters vote for the party in power, that’s how multi party systems work.
>However, a survey of 1,000 British adults carried out at the end of July found only 37% thought Labour was ready to take over.
Is that the total size of the poll each month?
this will be the story until the election gets closer then the massive Tory propaganda machine will start to roll SKY,BBC,MAIL etc etc will start to run hit pieces on Labour including the way Starmer eats a bacon sandwich and suddenly despite crisis after crisis because Liz can eat a bacon sandwich better she gets the vote.
I’ll never miss another election until the day I die.
When I was a teenager it seemed so easy to forget. Now I can’t let myself. I set multiple alarms.
Polls never seem to norm the meaning & usefulness with questions about how they voted llast time. Not if they’ll vote this time; people always answer that with what they think they *ought* to do.
Something something Brexit was 51% and I bet the news article purposely said half instead of the actual percentage.
Edit: checked the article. Yep. 52% said no to Tories.
The problem is that half consists of 2/5 labour, 1/5 Lib Dem and 1/5 others and some non voters.
So the other half feel that they haven’t quite fucked us enough yet?
But they will get back in because people are idiots.
If you think the government has been doing a good recently, just look at this chart.
I want labour to be better , stand up for the working people again. Cos I hate the Tories, defo don’t want to vote in the Tories again. They have shown their colours.
But they dont want Labour either !!
I don’t get not voting when the current government is the worst seen in a long time
People like authoritarian governments. They want to be punished.
That fact that it’s half rather than 90% is fucking alarming, just means human stupidity has no bounds
British public don’t realise how fucked up FPTP is
Then do something about it? Give REGULAR People an actual party they can vote for that doesn’t revolve around self hatred and woke politics. You’re just sitting there with you unelectable party and complaining that no one voted for you.. that’s how bad your party is. That people would rather vote for this clusterf*ck of a Tory party. Sort yourself out. Ditch the radical lefties.
Penny Mordaunt would’ve been the only fun one both of these idiots were part of Johnson’s front bench. Not much of a choice.
57.6% voted against them last time, doesn’t make a difference.
They don’t, they’ve been in power too long, they’re becoming shambolic. Unfortunately the opposition aren’t seen as credible either.
