Classic Daily Heil hate mongering
>A total of 1,075 Albanians
They’re not ‘Albanians’, by the time they’ve decided to make a new life as British citizens in the UK, via legitimate boat crossings. They’re ‘People of Albanian origin’
This also grinds my gears
>Chinese factories
They’re ‘Production or Industrial facilities of the People’s Republic of China’
‘Chinese factories’ is a classic case of orientalism and anti Asian sentiment.
>New research shows that in the past seven years nearly half a billion pounds has been spent by government trying to prevent migrants making the crossing.
Maybe spend half a billion on cutting energy bills or investing in renewables. Looks like money down the drain to me.
This isn’t s secret. But given these are refugees from our continent fleeing persecution, we will be opening our borders right? Like with the Ukranians?
I don’t get the Secret military report bit – it’s in the Daily Mail
Ah, yes, an attempt to divide migrants into groups of deserving and undeserving. Because it’s okay to hate just a few of them for being foreign, right?
> PER CENT
Typical DailyFail. Imagine capitalising a spelling error.
Why is this a “military report”? Are we planning to invade Albanian migrants?
Except of course that there are tonnes of data on this issue so why are they using a “leaked” report? There were reports a while ago on fatalities in the Channel that showed 75%+ were people fleeing war zones. And they’re only counting boats that cross the English Channel, which isn’t the only point of entry by a country mile
But it’s not like the Daily Mail to chat pure shite.
OK, so much wrong here.
Firstly, source is ‘secret military intelligence report’. So Mail can print whatever it likes – government will not confirm, deny or refute ‘secret military intelligence report’.
It refers to only one six week period this year. Obviously cherry picking data (if there is any truth) to show worst case.
It says last year 757 Albanians crossed. In total 28,526 people crossed. [https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-53734793](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-53734793)
So that’s 2.7% in 2021 were Albanians. Less than one tenth of the Mail’s claim.
40% of cross channel migrants from Albania yet 70% of cross channel migrants are granted asylum. Even worse according to the Daily Mail, the boats they use were made in China!!! Information comes from a’ top secret’ military report. For some reason the military are making a note of cross channel migrants nationalities and keeping it top secret!
The Home Office gives these figures
Recently, there has been a greater mix of nationalities making the crossing. Iranians made up 30% of small boat arrivals last year, while 21% were Iraqis, 11% Eritreans and 9% Syrians, says the Home Office.
Previously, Iranians made up the vast majority of arrivals – 80% in 2018, and 66% in 2019.

Seems like there is a huge inconsistency between the home office figures and the ‘top secret’ military figures.
