  1. >“Instead of eating 1-2 kilos of meat monthly, let’s eat half a kilo. We buy 2 kilos of tomatoes and half of them go to the trash. Well, let’s get 2 tomatoes,” said Turkish lawmaker Zülfü Demirbağ who belongs to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s AKP party.

    Hmm.

    >Turkey’s new presidential palace has 1,150 rooms, not 1,000, Erdoğan reveals

In retrospect, I am thinking that that may not have been the wisest move politically.

  2. So no turkey for dinner in Turkey? Erdogan is getting closer to testing the old wisdom about a populace being only 3 missing meals away from starting a revolution..

  3. tl;dr:

    >“Instead of eating 1-2 kilos of meat monthly, let’s eat half a kilo…

at 12kg meat per year, per …how many people…? that’s about the lowest in the world already?

  4. While it’s a hard pill to swallow, the only way for Turkey to achieve its goals and become a great ottoman power is for the turks themselves to fasten their belts and make sacrifices. Empire building is hard, and the people need to back it in any way they can.

  5. The Turkish people voted for this, why are they now suddenly surprised that shit has hit the fan? I don’t get it, anyone with a brain could see it coming.
