While Düsseldorf has made some progress, the city remains overcrowded with cars and many large roads and inner city highways cause a lot of (noise) pollution. There is some good bicycle infrastructure but many roads are outright scary to drive on.
Expensive tunnel projects are nice to make some core parts of the town more walkable but Düsseldorf remains a car-centric city that is not creating any meaningful changes that remove cars from the city. The tunnels are kind of a good example for that, instead of removing the road altogether, the city rather spends millions on digging a tunnel for all the cars. And even the famous shopping street “Kö” remains open to cars and is basically just a spot for people to rev their engines pointlessly.
Whats the purpose of that building?
Cant see much on the lower picture because its more zoomed in but if that utility building(?) wasnt there it would just look like some nice quite neighberhood. Its not like it was a big park before either.
Also graffiti just instantly makes anything look like a shithole.
