Reminder that on average, 6.8% of roles in adult social care were vacant in 2020/21. This is equivalent to 105,000 vacancies being advertised on an average day. With demand growing at around 3% year on year. We simply don’t have enough people to do the jobs.
Also, per a 2019 CHPI report, for small and medium-sized care home companies £7 of every £100 goes to profit before tax, rising to £15 out of every £100 for the 18 largest for-profit providers, the majority of which are owned by private equity via debt financing and transfer profits offshore.
