  1. Yo,

    Capitalist advisor here.

    Look, everyone, it’s good sense if you’re poor or struggling to cancel Netflix or amazon Prime, that’s just being sensible.

    I’m not here to advise you tho, I’m here to advise Netflix and Amazon Prime.

    You see all those poor people cancelling? Damn, sucks doesn’t it. That’s gonna hit your profit margins.

    Here’s whatcha gotta do, repeat after me;

    * RAISE
    * PRICES

    Cor yeah son, you’ll keep them profits up and it won’t matter none that the membership is declining. And y’know, if it’s any worse, we can always (cough) include advertising somewhere (cough).

    I’m here all week guys, let me know if you need more capital advice! (But not for you poor folks.)

  2. Netflix has went to shit anyway.

    Idk how people are supposed to live without watching 3 idiots in some cars though.

  3. It’s been clear for years that the fragmentation of this space will drive people back to piracy.

    With the right knowledge you can now get 4k streaming of everything and every tv channel for under a tenner to your tv. The growth of this is HUGE. Sweeping the country. It has become plug and play so has moved away from nerds with computers to every normal person. This is going to start hitting the news a lot more. I suspect the only reason it isn’t is they are trying not to drive more people to piracy.

    Spotify (or maybe music industry) doesn’t get enough credit for holding together a complete service that hasn’t fragmented yet.

    If it’s reasonably priced, easier, and has alot of what you want people will pay. TV/film streaming is now none of these things. We have just regressed 10-15 years on piracy.

  4. It’s not like we’ll be able to afford to turn on our television sets to watch prime or Netflix anyway.

    Best cancel it all.

  5. I know everyone is mad about amazon raising prices, but if you order a lot of stuff off there like I do, the free delivery is still a bargain at 8.99. Having the prime TV on top is just a bonus for me.

    Netflix however, I can do without.

  6. here’s a thought, it’s relatively cheap entertainment and boredom makes people tempted to spend money, hence it may be a false economy

  7. Which is why Netflix want to introduce their version with ads to try and get people back with a cheaper package. It will not improve the quality of the service and Netflix will continue to lose subscribers as people realise the golden age of streaming is over.

  9. Disney plus, Netflix and Prime.

    Pick one for two months, move to the next, move to the next…repeat. 6 months is enough time for them to give a bit of a refresh and you to build up a catalogue of shows/movies you want to watch

  10. It’s absolute false economy unless you are counting every penny (which I’m aware some are and I’m not blaming them for doing it). One trip for 2 people to the cinema would be about 3 months of Netflix. If you like watching films/box sets it’s the cheapest way to do it other than piracy. On the other hand, the library is free and reading by candlelight has a nice retro vibe to it, and the candle can also warm your hands and bring a can of value beans to a luke warm temperature so win win.

  11. I have just cancelled Prime. I’m not ordering anything and Prime Video has the worst content. I’ll get it again in October, ready for birthdays and Christmas, but it’ll be gone in January.

    I’d get rid of Netflix too, but the kids watch it.

    I don’t pay for Now, so that stays and Disney is OK.

  12. Wasn’t it in this period when Netflix raised its prices? I cancelled at that point because it made me question how much I watch Netflix (answer was one show per year). Prime at least offers other stuff.

  13. Borrowed my Dad’s Prime the other day in order to watch something, only to find that you have to *pay* extra to watch a lot of the content anyway. wtf lolno Amazon

  14. I tend to think of it as a much cheaper alternative to going out, plus thinking of it in terms of what you’re paying per episode for what you watch in a month.

  15. My phone, breakdown cover and car insurance was all
    Up for renewal 2 months ago and if I just accepted the auto renewal, I would have been £180 worse off a month.

    I switched my phone to a sim only plan and went from £50 to £10 a month. £40 saving.

    I switch my car insurance and went from £55.79 a month to £22 a month.

    I complained to RAC that there was no way I’m paying £25 a month for cover. They reduced it to £12 a month.

    I’ve managed to save around £70 alone on these 3 things.

    There are deals to be had but it’s disgusted that prices are simply going up for the sake of it

  16. Cancelling the TV licence sounds like better value. It’s more expensive and let’s face it, do you actually watch anything live or use iPlayer?

  17. The reality is that they no longer get new film releases which is why people subscribed. Netflix killed Blockbuster but now every studio has its own platform.

  18. Has anyone else cancelled Amazon Prime as of recent? It was to save money (albeit small) but also because I hardly use the bloody thing.

    I’d only use it a few times a year when I need something like toothpaste or moisturiser and I can’t be arsed driving to the shop for the sake of 1/2 quid.

  19. Well the price the market will bear bollocks is at least kicking the Cooperates in the bollocks. Sad we have come to this, but silver linings…. Plus you can get half the programmes if you know where to look.

  20. Get yourself an Argentinian Youtube Premium family sub.

    You get no ads on YouTube, but more importantly you get Youtube music streaming for the 5 accounts you set up on it. Bit of a faff, but only costs 179 Argentine Pesos = £1.19 a month

  21. I was putting it off because of Stranger Things last month and Sandman dropping in today, but after this month is done I wont be renewing my subscription.
