Normally, If i have had the driving license from my country I would be eligible to change it into Belgian one with no problem. I have been living here more than 3 years, and planing to take a driving license now. Because its so expensive here (it will cost me around 250 euro in my country), I decide to get it there but then i read this one the website [https://mobilit.belgium.be/en/road\_traffic/driving\_licence/recognition\_foreign\_driving\_licences](https://mobilit.belgium.be/en/road_traffic/driving_licence/recognition_foreign_driving_licences) :
>**The driving licence must have been issued during a period in which you were not registered in Belgium for at least 185 days.**

I assume i have to go to auto school here in Belgium. Anyone have experienced something similar?

You can’t. That’s what the law is written for
Get a Belgian driving license ASAP. The way it is,written there, you are currently driving illegally on a non European license and are not insured as a result.
I know your situation and no… as you already live in Belgium, and it will be your first drivers license, than you must obtain it here.
For the exchange the date of issue of your first drivers licence must be 185 days before you registered in belgium. As you already live here and still don’t have a drivers license you will need to get your first one here in Belgium. :/
BTW please don’t drive without a license, if you get an accident you will not be covered by the insurance of the owner.
The messed up thing is that while you are in the process of exchanging a foreign license, you cannot drive, since you don’t physically have the foreign license any more (you have to hand it over to them to start the process).
So just doing it in Belgium at least avoids that stupid catch-22.
Silver lining?
