Grim. No other words for it. I was put in a similar position when I had to agree to turn my mums life support off. Doctor informed me that to keep her heart pumping when her other organs had given up was inhumane. Still had a hard time letting go but had to face up to what was best for my mum.
I dunno what’ll happen next but the media circus around this has left me very uncomfortable.
I do find myself worrying for the staff now. And what an utter fucking legacy for your son. Can almost guarantee (or, perhaps rather, I hope) there will be a Police presence, if not overt.
If they want dignity for their son, hopefully they’ll finally show a bit of class and dignity tomorrow by letting these moments pass as intended, taking their last bit of time in quiet reflection.
Hopefully this is the end of it. I understand how this is very difficult for his family, and i dont think his mother has done any of this out of malice. This whole thing is down to Christian groups feeding off of a grieving mother for their own personal ideologies.

Absolutely tragic that Archie was used as a media spectacle by his abusive mother and a parasitic cult masquerading as a compassionate Christian group. It was always going to be this outcome but it was dragged on for over a month (nearly two) when he could have gone peacefully with dignity and respect.
The next step should be going after the cult that funded all this and his mother whose selfish behaviour made it into a media circus. If legally they cannot be punished then label them publicly for what they are, and call it for what it was – a failed suicide attempt not a failed challenge. The BBC was awful for reporting it as such.
You could argue grief but she was given all the facts and even tried to hinder any investigative measures to determine the likelihood of recovery. It became about her and her thoughts over the needs of Archie, purposely ignoring scientific facts by experts in the medical field who were always doing right by him, just so she can turn social media militant.
She labelled doctors and nurses as executioners and murderers. She made the legal system out to be evil based on conspiracy. It was vile because she is vile.
Hopefully he can slip off now, without being artificially kept alive. He’s been dead for a while and has suffered a fate worse than natural death – being artificially kept alive by an attention seeking mother who can’t accept she was wrong at his expense funded by a cult that played mental gymnastics to justify their beliefs despite all of the hypocrisy surrounding them.
How many times have we heard that now? So what’s the next con/scheme they’ll announce with 5 minutes left to waste time? I’m half expecting Saul Goodman to pop up and announce he’s suing the hospital nurses personally or something. That’s how much of a farce the family/Christians have turned this poor kid’s death into.
It’s especially sickening for someone who committed suicide. When you’re that desperately sick of life and just want peace, the last thing in the world you would want is for your death to be dragged out over the course of a year.
He’s not the first kid to be put through this nonsense and I very much doubt he will be the last. But whilst I had some sympathy for the parents of Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans, I have none for Archie’s mum. She has wasted so much time in court that she should have been spending with her son who should have been let go months ago. Sadly I doubt this is the end – Hollie is going to milk this for all it’s worth even after Archie is gone. But at least his suffering is finally going to end.
I hope this finally brings an end to this whole saga, that the family can finally accept the reality of the situation and grieve, and that the medical staff can be free of this vicious circus.
However, based on what’s happened up until now, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more ugliness to come.
