Easily one of the most horrendous and basically fascist policies. What this will do is make foreign born offenders instantly recognisable to everyone, while UK offenders will just have the be able to hide the ankle tag. This will have such a damaging effect on relationships and community and just bolster far right and British nationalist movements.
This seems like a massive breach of privacy compared to ankle monitors, can’t wait to hear about people getting wrongfully prosecuted for not using it when the outsourced private companies servers/gadgets inevitably fuck up.
I suppose I’ll be waiting a long time for the “social credit authoritarianism in china! uyghurs constantly being spied on! criminals not allowed to breathe air!” spouting MP’s in parliament to stand up and criticise this making us more and more like them
