Saw someone posting earlier about some kind of inedible berries. We have these growing in our garden and wondered if they were red currents or just some other inedible things.
Is is called “rips” in norwegian, they are totally eatable, but tastes sort of sour
Redcurrants.
Redcurrant, rips in Norwegian. Often and traditionally eaten as a dessert with cream and sugar. Also makes fantastic jelly.
Ibsens “rips”busker og andre buskevekster.
Great for shampoo. 👍
How to perfect jam from these:
50%/50%/50% rips, banana and sugar. Weight by weight.
You end up with 150% tasty jam.
Rips! I’ve got them growing all along the bottom of my garden. As a result, we made some jam and now there’s no more room left in my freezer.
Rips
Rips
The red kind
The best ones among all
Those are red currants
Germans call it Rote Johannisbeere, however in English it’s sth like “red currant”
These are pretty sour when eaten alone but as desert with bit of sugar or as jelly really tasty 🙂
If they are planted as a hedge, they probably are not redcurrant, but alpine currant.
