‘No safety net’: People struggle to put food on table in Rishi Sunak’s constituency

  1. Wasn’t this always the end goal of the Conservative “Big Society”?

Slash the state safety net, and leave it to charities to pick up the pieces?

  2. Great news. We should be proud of food banks.

And ill be voting conservatives at the next election because there were no food banks around when Labour were in power.

  3. A full 63.6% of Rishi’s constituency voted for him, a walloping 27,000 majority. If any of the people going to food banks voted for him I have little sympathy for the misery they have caused themselves. For everyone else in Richmond I am sorry for what the Conservatives are doing to us all.

  4. People did not kick up enough of a fuss when this was happening to someone else, so now it is happening to more and more people. It will get worse once the fuel cap increases again, and if this dry weather continues throughout August and into September. The Tories will cut the safety net to the best of their ability and will not help people because they vote Tory. They will help themselves and those who can really do something for them, ruling out most of the public straight away.
