No, where does that come from? German culture before 1848 is more “European culture in general” anyway, because it was roughly 70 countries.
Can you give sources or proof for that claim?
I doubt that nowadays, most Germans have ever made up their minds on Gothic architecture. And back in the days, [Goethe considered it a prime example](https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Von_Deutscher_Baukunst) of our culture.
