Kremlin ‘staged Ukraine protest in Dublin with republicans’ | Ireland

  1. >The protest was attended by Russian nationalists, members of the Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP) and other republican groups, some carrying placards calling on Ukraine to stop shelling the people of Donbas, the region where Russia has fomented nationalist sentiments.

Deport those Russians so. We need their houses.

    >Protesters filmed at the event included Nathan Hastings, a member of the IRSP from Derry, who was given a ten-year sentence in 2014 after being caught with a pipe bomb, weapons and ammunition controlled by the New IRA

If he’s on parole, is this a breach of it?

  2. Was the guy in the security services a Fine Gaeler that blames everything on Russia? That’d be the simpler conclusion to all sorts of Kremlin conspiracies. Especially if they are wannabe CIA fanboys desperate to start interfering with the news and undermining democracy.

The whole article is based on people’s feelings and hearsay.

  3. I’m probably going to get some slack for this but its not exactly “staged”. Staged implies that these idiots were paid by the Kremlin or something when in reality they probably just asked them to protest. Maybe “setup” or “organised” would be a more apt way to phrase it.

  4. These people are a small minority motivated by their hatred for the UK, siding with anyone opposed to the UK and its policies, which in this case is Russia and its proxies.

Like so many activists ruled by emotion and dogma, the facts of the issue don’t matter.

  5. You know there was some Republican group that posed by the famous Free Derry mural with the Russian Imperial flag and the flag used by that FSB Donetsk statelet at the start of this war.

I was always a bit disturbed about that photo simply for what it represented. The easy answer is that some fringe Republican group are so stupid that the amoebae involved can’t see the irony between supporting an Imperial aggressor in a modern day colonial war in front of a powerful symbol of decolonisation and the criminality of British Imperialism such as that mural.

Or the other easy answer, the stupid cunts were paid to do it. This article suggests the latter

  6. Why are we as a nation allowing ruzzans into our country ……. Nice move from SF and the other ass holes people need to wake up Ruzzans only want war time to kick all ruzzans out of Ireland they can take there buddies with them

  7. I’ve been waiting for this to happen. You can’t deny there are parallels between Ukraine and this island.

Ukraine got it’s independence from it’s larger neighbour that historically didn’t treat them very well. It has cultural and ethnic divisions as a result of people being planted. It has regions that want to remain united with the larger neighbour or at least don’t want to be part of the independent country. It has paramilitary groups with secretive state links. It has segregated schools and neighbourhoods. One side is opposed to the other using their own language. There are controls regarding which political parties can be shown on TV.

Doesn’t that all sound familiar? I was expecting a newspaper columnist to bring it up at some point but I wasn’t expecting republican demonstrations about it. Because if they’re drawing parallels between Ukraine and Ireland it looks like they’ve taken the wrong side. You can see their general support for the idea of republicanism but the groups that want to secede from Ukraine aren’t ethnically Ukrainian. They’re the remnants of the Soviets which in this list of parallels are the British.

  8. Meanwhile the top post in this sub is an anti Israel/EU meme post supported by a bunch of Chinese/Russian shills in the comments.

Ireland is a cultural battleground, and malicious nations are trying to set up a division the same way they did in the UK/US.

  9. Ah here lets not invite this fucking russian collusion shit that stupidly this side of the pong. These morons are morons, simple as that. The Kremlin doesn’t need to be involved and likely wasn’t.

The bloody ‘evidence’ in the article is that pictures and videos of them were on russian ‘state’ media (all media over there is controlled by the state).

There was pictures of videos of them as it was happening on reddit and twitter and everywhere else. Why the fuck is it when twitter updates people on events in real time it’s ‘an amazing journalism tool’ and when it’s used for the exact same thing over something stupid it’s ‘the kremlin’?

Thinking the kremlin would waste a second on these clowns gives them more respect and attention than they’re worth.
