Removal of Narva [Soviet] tank monument underway

  1. The Soviet tank in Narva was able to remain in place for so long due to the almost fully Russified population of the once Estonian majority town and hence municipal authorities remained reluctant to remove it. It remained a controversial issue for some time. Now the government stepped in and decided on a surprise removal of the monument, with a high support from Estonians in general.

It’s yet to be seen whether this will lead to some local Russians protesting, but it’s unlikely that a [Bronze Night](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronze_Night) type of event will repeat itself as the Russians in Tallinn won’t care enough and the Russians in Narva would probably not break up what they feel is their town (which wasn’t the case with Russians in Tallinn in 2007).

  2. The Bronze night was a book example of putin’s firestarting.

How to start a riot among local russians?

Make a news report that it is not a simple monument moving, but is an attack on russian history.

    BOOM! People are dumb.

  3. Maybe replace it with a memorial to the victims of Soviet oppression or the Ukrainian victims of Russia’s current war of conquest.
