Every single landlord who has bills included, will naturally decrease the rent monthly while the rebate trickles in I am sure. They certainly won’t use this government handout as a way to increase their profits, that would be crazy. No no, they won’t do that. They’re reasonable people.
If bills are included and this rebate is for the bills, why should tenants get it?
If rent (which includes energy bills) **has gone up** in line with energy bills then tenants should be compensated.
If rent (which includes energy bills) **hasn’t gone up** in line with energy bills then the landlord should keep the money as they’ve been covering the increase.
If the rent is fixed to include bills, the landlord should keep it.
If it is a “pass through” where the bills are passed on to the tenant, then the bill is lower so the amount passed through should be lower.
almost like the government did this to line their own pockets, and the pockets of their property cartel donors, all of which benefits mortgage lending banks and bungs the property bubble. all while dressing it up as helping people with energy cost problems.
Wow so all those letting agents who rent out all bills included properties are gonna get a nice pay out.
