Teenage biker claims arresting gardaí used ‘excessive force’ to detain him

  1. I think the excessive force could be fair. The lad was on the ground and the Garda ran in and stamped on him and then proceeded to hit him a little kick again after it

  2. He always drives his scrambler legally. By pure coincidence the very first time he took it out illegally, the Gardaí catch him.

    Spare me.

  3. Having a first thought fuck him and his skanger Ma, I’ve now watched the video and the Garda are extremely unprofessional. The lad was standing up not doing anything and looked to be of no threat before they pounced on him.

These idiotic actions now means the skanger will get a load of compo money and there will prob be restrictions placed on how they can deal with skangers on bikes.

  4. So found the video.

Regardless if the kid is a shithead or not or if the mother is a idiot for buying her kid a scrambler or not.

The first take down with the leg sweep looks fine. It’s rough and particularly rough for Irish gards but at that point I’m ok with them restraining him and putting him down quickly and effectively regardless of initial compliance.

It’s the uniformed Garda that sweeps around to the right and kicks in the body, the head 3-5 times while the suspect that is completely uncalled for. The Garda should be fired and charged. It shouldn’t be a Garda if he can’t show restraint.

The undercover Garda in green/grey begins to tug, drag and lay a dig or 2 into the suspects back which again is completely uncalled for. Not as severe but should be put on desk duty and retrained on restraining individuals.

Garda with nightstick showed restraint and didn’t use it and 4th Garda didn’t appear do anything wrong. He put his weight on him with his knee from what I can see and tries to secure his hands.

Overall really shit job by the Gards and brings into question their training in regards to use of physical force. Also fucking up community relations. Regardless of what the kid did, this kid, and future kids he might have and all his family will remember this.

  5. Guards were definitely excessive and the one who kicked his head should be reefed out of the force. No excuse for that really. I’d say if this was some spoiled kid from Ballsbridge rather than a spoiled kid from Finglas it’d be a different story.

But maybe the parent should be prosecuted for even allowing her child to have what is essentially a motor vehicle. If some of these parents could get prosecuted for their kids actions you’d probably see a bit of a reduction in this kind if thing.

I also am not sure I even believe the line that she “didn’t know he had it out”.

  6. There needs to be a serious crackdown on scumbags on scramblers, along with a dozen other things, but the Guard who comes flying in and delivers kicks to the guy’s head has cost the taxpayer quite a lot of money and their role should be in serious question.

  7. I haven’t seen the video the article mentions but if there is credible evidence of excessive use of force it absolutely should be investigated.

Who the force is used against isn’t what decides whether it was reasonable or not, as much as some people on this sub would disagree.

  8. He’s been represented by a firm specialising in personal injury claims . Saul Goodman eat your heart out…

  9. The other day I was turning into SuperValu down in killester and just as I was about to turn in I hear the roar of scramblers behind me these two pricks about 15,16 shoot by me on the outside, I have stoped and my indicator is on I was ready to turn but I seen them in mirror coming at top speed so waited but even the slightest move and I would have clipped them, I wouldn’t want to kill anyone but would have loved to knock them off their bikes, they wouldn’t of had a chance. Both illegal unlicensed scramblers.

  10. I’d rather less excessive force and more accountability from the judicial system to keep these scrotes out of society. I have friends living in estates cursed by these scramblers and they don’t deserve that, it ruins an estate.

  11. I think the throw to the ground was probably ok. What we don’t see is the long chase before that.while evading the police. The kick to the head after is what fucked it up for them. They would have been grand upto that point.

  12. TEENAGE biker claims arresting

    Teenage BIKER claims arresting

    Teenage biker claims arresting

Garda used excessive force (to detain!)

  13. Will be interesting to hear the full story if it goes to court, like was the young lad endangering pedestrians while taking off from the Gardai? Seems like he may have only stopped as he went into a dead end. I remember when it was being shared around initially his Mother was straight onto Facebook with a picture of her child with a little trickle of dried blood on his head trying to drum up outrage and attention.

What made no sense was he’s wearing a proper crash helm in the linked video.
