Honestly wtf ~ Dept. of Environment does not invest in the energy grid, does not build nuclear power plants but the problem is my 7m shower and the 18 C in my heated room???!!
Getting tired of seeing the public is being victimised while the entities having all the public money and tools to solve the issue do fuck all about it and using my tax money to create ads so that it can tell me heating my room is main reason why this country is dependent on Russian energy.
well, make having a smart meter worthwhile, 24h rate is still more interesting atm
They just approved two Amazon data storage facilities and we’re the problem.
It’s not terrible advice purely from a money-saving perspective. But holy shit, stop putting the environmental responsibility on Joe Soap when the vast, vast. *vast* majority of it is caused by giant corporations and the wealthy with their private jets. etc.
To be fair everyone really should turn down the heating to 20-21 degrees. I know some people living in shared housing and their absolutely selfish housemates expecting it to be 23-24 degrees every day , horrible.
Aside from the issue of pushing the blame into ordinary people when it’ll take policy at an international and national level to really tackle climate change… It’s just so dull.
There’s more thoughtful and inspiring messaging on primary school classroom walls.
Come on, we get bombarded by dozens of high budget corporate sustainability ads every day, the vast majority of which are shameless greenwashing. How is this supposed to capture anyone’s attention?
What’s the actual point of this?
None of the advice is incorrect or wrong. They’re reasonable suggestions to curb any unnecessary overuse of energy.
Good advice but will Jeff Bezos even see this ad? Maybe save a ton of money and just send him an email rather than sticking it up on billboards etc?
Are these ads going to be flashed up at us from social media sites with massive data storage facilities here? If so I suggest school textbooks need to be modified as this is one of the clearest example of irony ever.
Are they sending this to data centres too?
It’s insulting. Treating us like morons while not tackling actual causes
I’m already doing all that but really what difference will it make when we have data centres drawing to much power and have been sold a renewable energy lie. Prepare for black outs would be more like it.
Honest irish government add
Get used to the dark the cold and eating bakedbeans. It’s going to be a long dark winter.
I think I’ll get a job in a data centre I hear they are warm
FUCK THE GOVERNMENT
…there’s never a shortage of full heating in any County Council office or Civil Service office in the years I’ve being going into them! Hospitals also seem to all have non working thermostats as the heat is blasting away 24/7 and patients have to open as many windows as possible.. This is when our children could not wear jackets at schools with all windows open due to COVID fears. Madness. Don’t start me on Prisons- where no lag seems to wear a shirt or top ever!
There’s a massive transfer of responsibility happening where very, very ill prepared institutions are trying to push responsibility onto consumers.
Most countries in Europe have had for example feed in tariffs where you can sell your power to the grid.
The ESB held onto their little monopoly with their grubby hands and nobody forced them from a legislative standpoint to allow people to add solar and wind to their properties cost effectively..
Now they’ll blank over it all with a media campaign.
