And it’s probably all for a room the size of shed.
They should only invite the first 10 to respond to a viewing, more than likely you’ll get a tenant out of that. Don’t waste everyone’s time
Playing devil’s advocate here, but why don’t landlords switch to an auction model? As a renter what’s the point being #50 in the line for a rental? The chances of me be selected as a tenant are tiny. I could increase my chances though by willing to pay more than other candidates.
It’s been like this a while. You only see these type of queues at open viewings which is pretty rare, but really puts into perspective the demand there is.
Imagine these queues of people and many more on Daft every day waiting for new ads to pop up so they can apply. New ads can get hundreds of views within minutes. The demand is crazy. Thankfully I was lucky and found somewhere after about 8 weeks and will be staying as long as I can because there’s literally nowhere else to go to.

It was the exact same in 2000 before the house building ramped up like mad
I live near here, and when I saw all the cars parked on the road, it was like a match day in Croke Park.
There was easily 150 people queuing to see the place.

That pic of the interior is grim.
