Jesus H Christ. Reversing at speed down a country lane! Aiming at a cyclist, ran over a dog.
I’ve heard this said before “If you want to kill someone just do it while driving a car and you’ll be off the hook.”
At this point I’m convinced that there is a subset of psycho motorists who have had their brains so rotted by years of right wing media demonising cyclists that they will absolutely attempt to do harm to them if they think they can get away with it. You see them all the time in comment sections of newspapers fantasising about running them off the road while they shriek about them not paying a non-existent road tax. Stuff like this is the logical endpoint of that.

Absolutely mental. Anyone displaying this kind of behaviour should have their license revoked immediately
Sad thing is that the driver would likely get off. You have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the intent was to cause harm, or that road rage played a part.
It would be easy to claim that the driver heard a shout, thought they had done something to the cyclist and in a panic reversed back to try and speak to the cyclist.
The dog running out was an unfortunate accident.
Slap on the wrist territory. Awful for that dog, grateful it wasn’t a person – the accident possibly saved the cyclist.
4×4 drivers are the worst
That driver should lose their licence for life, it’s pretty much attempted murder.
‘North Yorkshire Police decided not to act on the footage, citing among other things that the cyclist had contributed towards the sequence events by shouting at the driver to “watch out!”’
I hope someone is made accountable for that decision….
Officer that shelved it should be disciplined, and the driver should lose the privilege to drive for life at a minimum.
I wish I could say this is shocking but it really isn’t and it’s not just the police that think drivers can use their vehicles as weapons it’s the general culture in the UK (think of Top Gear) and much of the World.
What about the dog? Did it survive?
im walking down the street with my head in my phone, then a guy walks into me. instead of saying sorry he tells me to watch where im walking…so i tried to stab him. but somones cat got in the way so i killed a cat. anyway long story short, the police said i was in the clear beacuse the other guy started it…

TLDR: Afghan Dan’s step dad crashed into me on purpose.
I let a guy out of a side road once, he immediately pulled up in the road, causing me to have to swerve round him back into another lane of traffic. I called him an ignorant twat as I passed. He then followed me and crashed into the back of my car when I stopped at a junction, nothing major, some minor damage that needed repairing and mild case of whiplash, but what the fuck was he thinking using his car in such a manner. Could have been so much worse, with very little in different circumstances.
Anyway, I’m by no means a small guy, although you’d probably not get that just by seeing my little sports coupe, so when I get out of my car, he shits himself and after reversing, then realising he’s no way out, he wheel spun around me and drove over a curb to get away.
The police didn’t do a thing. Witnesses, the lot, nothing. They said it was for insurance to sort out. A man using his car as a weapon. I claimed the damage on my car, only after a year of him trying to deny it. There were a few disruptions to my life and my car as a result, but what can I do.
What I did do, was this. A little investigation turned up his name, and he was the step father of the infamous Blackpool Grime Media star Afghan Dan, which gave me a wee chuckle. Afghan Dad, we can know refer to him as. Anyway, Afghan Dad is a complete donut, I found videos he posted online, electrocuting himself in his wife’s laundrette, trying to fix the machines. I sent those videos to the council as I’m pretty sure he is not a qualified electrician. I also informed Warburtons, whose uniform he was wearing at the time of the incident of his wreckless behaviour. He might not have been working, but he was representing the company in their branded uniform. The next time I spotted him coming to a junction, and I was in traffic, I closed the little gap so he couldn’t get out, because why the fuck would I show courtesy again.
He’s still on my list, and I’m sure it won’t be the last time he feels the repercussions of his stupid fucking actions.
If you ever see this, Afghan Dad. Fuck you. I’m not done yet.
I don’t want to watch the video cuz reasons but can someone tell me if the dog was okay?
The man should never be allowed to drive again, there is absolutely no excuse.
And I am saying that as someone who drives regularly and enjoys driving. Cars used as weapons show a complete and total disregard for the safety of vulnerable road users. It’s akin to assault but instead of a threat by punching someone, it’s two tonnes (maybe more for that SUV monstrosity) of deadly metal.
It’s twats like that that so many people drive still. Car = metal box.
My heart breaks for the dog. That poor fucking dog. What an absolute peice of shit human. I hope karma gets him, cause clearly the police cbf.
Putting the road rage aside, the only reason why anyone should be reversing back up a single lane road like that is to get into a passing place when there is oncoming traffic.
But even then you should be reversing with due care and attention, not at the speeds demonstrated in the video. It’s pretty astonishing the police initially said no action needed, especially with the dog getting injured. Imagine if that was a person/child etc….
If it’s not the police who won’t investigate it’s the CPS. I had my more bike nicked, police ID’d the suspect from CCTV security guard at place it was nicked ID’d him he admitted to it and had parted of my bike in his garage yet that’s no enough evidence. When the little bastard was beaten half to death by a biker while I was in Spain on holiday CPS were determined to charge me regardless of facts and had to explain to a criminal court how I was in Spain on the day and they tried to argue I bought a private flight back just to find him and beaten him nearly to death they fly back to Spain.
