HSE

  1. In this country you could replace hse with any organisation, hence the reason you cant figure out how so many useless cunts got in the positions they did🥲

  2. Most HSE posts now go through the PAS where it’s next to impossible to get a job without passing the tests etc. I thought all public service hiring had cleaned itself up..

  3. Then there’s psychology jobs via a panel so you never get quite the job you want, or from hiring perspective never quite the expert you want.

  4. The HSE’s main recruitment problem is the exact the opposite of nepotism. National interview panels where neither the service nor the recruited person get to meet eachother until their first day on the job.

It’s anti-nepotistic to the point of being completely impractical. Local services have no say in who they hire.

  5. I wonder if any sensible gov would just start their own recruitment department for the whole of the public sector jobs. I just for kicks checked the Garda recruitment page and no one is applying for that shit. I’d pass any background check they offer but I’m not filling out a fucking paper application in 2022 for a developer job.

  6. Absolute bollocks. Have worked with HR in the HSE. Staffing issues are due in part to their HR’s bloated, overly excessive and unnecessary hiring practices. Also worth a mention is the slow speed at which they get through cases.

“Things just work a little bit slower here in the public sector” – Actual quote from my then line manager.

  7. There should also be a meme about the rte and their coke problem how they go on the news every day and call out how bad drugs are for you which is true but it’s well known most people are doing coke in rte day to day I even believe Ryan tubridy is a big fan of coke

  8. Not true at all and even if it was so what ? Like no one else would hire a friend or family member if they applied for a job they can do.

  9. Partner is a Consultant Anesthetist, we’re in London now but she’s looking for a position back in Dublin and finding it hard. What the actual fuck are you on about with nepotism and how can she take advantage of it?

  10. Is the hiring process different for temp posts? As in, can a line manager just interview someone they got a CV from and give them a job (without advertising the post, and therefore, interviewing other candidates), just as long as it’s a temp post/contract? My colleague and I were wondering about this the other day.

  11. I done an interview for the hse for an admin role grade 3 I’m 2018. Came in the top 20. Had to get references from jobs I hadn’t worked in for years for some reason. Was asking for references off people I’ve never even met cus they were looking for a reference from a job I was in 2011 while doing my leaving cert. After all was said and done no word back for a year and a half it was so long I had to get my Garda vetting twice. Finally got the job in 2020. Worst job I’ve ever had the hse is holding on by a thread and all the admin in charge are retiring soon and don’t give one shit

  12. I don’t think you could find less nepotism anywhere else. The hiring process was completely redesigned with the main goal being eliminating nepotism, the other goal was eliminating any sort of bias, be that sexism, racism or whatever else

Interviews are scored by multiple people who don’t know each other and the person with he highest score gets the job. If you’re not happy with your score you can appeal it and have someone different review it.

Sometimes pre interview there are aptitude tests, again the people with the highest score get through.

And guess what they do with applications? They also give them a score and the people with the highest score get through to the next round

  13. My factory is all nepotism much better work enviorment when all 200 people everyone and I mean everyonr maybe 10 in the whole factory arent related to someone.Cant really get into feuds or whole familys get involved lol

  14. Tell me you know nothing about HSE hiring practices without telling me you know nothing about HSE hiring practices.

  15. Was recently applying for something relating to the HSE in order to be able to apply for work for them.

Was having difficulty with the red tape of it all (absolute rigmarole) as my degree was from the UK, and since Brexit it is no longer recognised by the EU framework. Long story.

Anyway, was on the phone to someone eventually who was supposed to help. The first question she asked; “Who do you know working in (local hospital)?”

My answer was I didn’t know anyone. She let out a sigh, and it became an even bigger rigmarole.

I was told I’d get a call back. I was so annoyed.

In the time it took to get a call back, I had moved to Belfast, got a flat, got a job with the NHS in the field I wanted in a great healthcare centre, as my degree was recognised in the UK.

The issue still hasn’t been sorted. Out of disgust I’d nearly avoid working with them and eventually move to the private sector when I build up some good experience.

  16. I don’t know what the fuck the people trying to say there’s no nepotism is smoking. My ex got her aunt’s old job in a big Dublin hospital, and everyone in her department (wasn’t really public facing) had all, and I mean ALL grandfathered in, and her bosses boss got her two daughters in working at a different hospital and openly bragged about it. Nepotism is a huge problem in our government – especially when they do the big show and dance hiring process even though they’re replacing someone with a known entity anyway.

  17. There’s always one hobbit in charge of the hiring panel – don’t mess with the hobbit , ain’t nothing changing around here – get it !
