And if you sign up with them one year, they’ll still your agent on the Revenue system, so they will do future tax returns for you even if you intended to do it yourself and collect fees for doing so. They’ll also try to apply for credits that you aren’t eligible for, and for which you will be responsible for if you get audited.

In truth, if that was my company and some lad started publically telling everyone how what I was selling wasn’t that special? I’d do the same thing.

It’s a scam. But it’s a legal scam that relies on people’s lack of knowledge of the tax system and how easy it is to do yourself.
It’s no different to commenting on the post of a restaurant “you could have cooked this yourself at home and saved money”
I think American media has influenced people into thinking taxes are this complex, insanely difficult thing. And yeah if you run a business they can be and you might be best off hiring an accountant, but if you’re a PAYE worker it’s so simple.
I’ve helped a relative get tax back for private medical procedures and it was just a case of scanning and uploading documents like receipts. I was one of the people who overpaid tax in 2021 and all I had to do to get it was to confirm/review the info they had on me and agree it was correct.
Directly impacts their business so I get why they do it. Not right, however.

Just like people on visas in Oz getting private entities to do their taxes for upwards of 25% is a sure sign of cunts being lazy cunts. Fill out your forms, tick the boxes, SAVE YOUR INFO, and then you’re done. Literally nothing to it ***and*** all you have to do the next time is press the big “give me money” button.
