Consultants warn patients at risk of dying as 900,000 on hospital waiting lists

  1. Well I came dangerously close to losing my eyesight while on a waiting list🙄. Absolute disaster of a health service.

  2. I might be really wrong but are consultants not contributing partly to this issue by doing public clinics only a couple of days a week? I know it’s their right but surely the waiting lists could be somewhat tackled if they were working exclusively in the public system? I stand to be corrected here and am aware there are wait times for different reasons also.

  3. At this stage the hse shud be dismatnled, everyone let the fuck go, and start a new system from the ground up, coudlnt beany worse then what we “have”, which is notjing but a fucking dumpster fire we keep trhowing money at

  4. Apparently they expect 1.5 million to join the waiting list this year and 1.7 million appointments to be held, to reduce the total figure on the list by 200k. That was the goal anyway. Based on those figures, looks like there is a goal of around 32k appointments per week (1.7m/52)

  5. 20% of the country on a waiting list, running out of ambulance staff, closing A&Es, nurses and consultants leaving, gross miscalculations and overspend on a hospital in an already over-congested location, 10,000s of people unable to register for a GP. What a fine health sector we have.

  6. A lot more people should avail of the Primary Care reimbursement scheme if they can.

Go to credit union and get loan, travel up north or go private, get it done and get reimbursed and pay off loan.

No, we shouldn’t have to do it, and its not fixing the hse waiting list problem, but if you are in pain and things are getting worse, it’s worth considering.

  7. Have to say, my mam went to hospital last week and although she didn’t get home until 11.30pm she got all her tests done with results. She also had to go for a scan a few days later (hot an appointment within 3 days) and last night at about 8pm she got a call from the hospital to say she got the all clear, yeay. That’s was The Lourdes in Drogheda and then Dundalk for the scan. They were actually waiting for her when she got there so faor play all around. The few times I’ve been in the Lourdes they were also very very good. I think they bump you up in order of importance maybe.
