Kevin O’Brien – the most capped Irish sportsman in any team sport – has retired from international cricket

  1. Christ he’s 2x+ ahead of the most capped for the IRFU and FAI

    Brian O’Driscoll – 133

    Robbie Keane – 146

How many cricket match are there in a year?

  2. Let’s all remember that Kevin O Brien’s century off 50 balls set a world cup record and helped Ireland beat England despite needing a huge run chase.

I dunno if any Irish athlete at world cup level has ever been more important in a victory over England.

  3. Total legend of a sportsman. That World Cup performance against England has to be one of the best individual sporting performances by an Irishman – he was unplayable that day. But that’s how he always played – total destruction was his MO. Huge loss to Irish cricket.
