SOEP (Sozio-Oekomisches Panel) is a long term study about how life/society in Germany are developing over a long period of time. Pretty useful if you ask me, especially when immigrants are included.
I’m a participant since about 2005 (don’t remember exactly). They call you for a telephone interview and you’re asked a number if questions regarding your daily life in Germany. Of course, the data is collected anonymously.
After the interview you’ll get a thank you note and probably a small gift. They will then ask if they may contact you again in 5-10 years.
