  1. Hi, I’m from Czechia and I want to move to Poland and live somewhere near the mountains. I would live anywhere from Bialsko Biala to Zakopane. Where is it the best for finding job but also building a house? It needs to be in the hills. Thank you.

  2. OP must be either high or former Italian mafia member escaping from godfather’s wrath as far as possible to want to live as a foreigner with highlanders xD

  3. I can recommend Bielsko-Biała. I live here and love this place!

  4. Nowy Sacz is kind place to live. My wife said so, on the basis of a survey of friends from all over Poland.

  5. Id go for Bielsko-Biala. Quite big and nice, industrialized, in the mountains, close to Czechia.

  6. If you dislike too much people in one place then definitely not Zakopane. Maybe Żywiec, Szczyrk or Bielsko Biała?

  7. Bielsko Biała is not near Tatra, but has plenty of smaller, but still beautiful mountains ranges (regions?). Imho it would be best choice as it has a good mix of city infrastructure (shops, culture, health specialists), is kind of modern and nature that is close by. BB is not a total backwater hole like any other towns near Tatra proper.

If you want to live closer to mountains, I would definitely avoid Zakopane as it is not a great place to live because it is run as a tourist attraction, not a place for people.

In very small villages it might be difficult to get a place, because there rarely are any flats available, and houses are mostly for sale, rarely for rent.

  8. I’d go with Cieszyn, it borders Czechia. And if not that then maybe Wisla.

  9. You can always move to Kraków or sit around it and you have less than 2h drive to Tatra mountains

  10. Zakopane, the cultural events are also cool.
I’m skipping the tourists and the less-cultural events ; )

  11. Wadowice is decent. About 1-1.5 hour to the Tatra mtns. Close to Krakow and the airport. There are mountains and lakes nearby too. Ive been there many times to see family, did some hiking there too which is nice.

  12. Definitely krakow, it’s a beautiful and welcoming city with many foreigners

  13. You need to make a research. What you have asked is not „where to spend my honeymoon” but something more serious, I assume.

So, I’d recommend to drive across the considered region and choose what you (and/or your girl) like.
Then stay for a night or two and check what people do there on evenings, on weekends. Go to the pub. Find any job offers nearby in any of your professions. Check salaries. They would differ from what your expectation. Check rent and build an overall budget. If it feeds, great. But… if there’s nothing for both of you out there: choose second option, then next, etc.

Until you decide to build a house or send kids to school, you are absolutely free to relocate.
    Good luck!

  14. Well Kraków is the closest big city, civilisation etc I doubt that’s what you’re looking for however. My dad’s from Bielsko-Biała, and imo it’s a really calm, nice place+ close to mountains, not Tatras tho

  15. Not this one, i recommend Gdańsk. I lived close to this mountain and people i met were awful. My friend was discriminated cuz he was not from there. It was my experiences.

  16. Cieszyn/Tešen you have 1 small town (polish Cieszyn 30k and Czech 20k) decided by 2 countries, with beautiful architecture very rich and long history starting from medival castle hill through Austro-Hungarian Brewery and buildings to polish fights for independence than polish-czech war Zaolzie annexation and communist times. You have cheap and very good Czech bear & cuisine. Polish cuisine is present as well however I am personally in love with Czech Republic haha. You have about 30 minutes by car to mountains or you can go there by bus. Cieszyn has a lot of delightful cafés and places to chill out. I belive you wouldn’t be disappointed.

  17. I can reccomend Kamienica. It’s in the Gorce national park and its a lovely town with a big cultural background

  18. Bielsko Biała is very good if you want to be in a big city near mountains, its also nicely connected to the rest of Poland and also to Czech Republic
