Malta Is To Legalize Cannabis For Personal Use, Social Clubs, But Not Sales

  1. The way these social clubs usually are meant to work is as follows:
    – you establish a club and get members
    – for each member, the club has the right to grow the amount of plants per person allowed and established in the law (4 in this case)
    – each member would then have the right to get an established maximum amount of product per day at the club (probably maximum 7 grams)
    – members would pay a membership fee + a price for the product collected

So in theory it would take at least 3 months after the passing of the bill before any club could start selling to their members.

  2. When you are ready to legalise literally everything except the right to abortion. I don’t know what other people think about this situation, but for me it all is surreal, sorry.

  3. I live in a country where it has been fully legal, albeit with the government-run retailers holding a monopoly. It’s no big deal. The use of cannabis hasn’t increased or decreased notably, although I would say the quality/price ratio has greatly improved from what I hear. I personally don’t partake.

So what’s the downside? People who use it are happy, it’s regulated so the quality standards are up, the government is generating revenue through sales and tax. It’s a win/win scenario.
