The method of reporting crime differs between countries so an accurate measurement is difficult. That being said, defining ‘safety’ is a very subjective thing.
There’s obvious cities more ‘dangerous’ for someone not involved in crime than Dublin (i.e. – random street violence – see Johannesburg, San Salvador etc.) but in the case of Europe it becomes a lot more difficult.
If we define ‘safety’ in terms of the likelihood of random violence occuring to you as you walk down the street in central Dublin could you really claim that it’s more likely to occur in Berlin or Rome or Lisbon or Athens or Helsinki or Vienna or Budapest or Prague? The answer seems no
Now, if you go to some of the really deprived areas of Paris, Berlin or Brussels for example you’re probably at a greater risk of a mugging etc. than O’Connell Street but are you really at a greater risk on the Champs Elysee or Unter der Linden?…
That’s a better joke than the entire party itself.
Can’t have crime statistics if nobody is charged with a crime.
Barry, there, who – completely undeterred by being rejected by actual voters in Dún Laoghaire – got elected to the Seanad with 30 (thirty) votes and is getting €350k for the privilege.
I’d be posting the photo of the wee dog in the burning cafe as well if I was him.
Must be the new uniforms
Everytime we talk about the crime statistics in this country, it is a good time to point out that even the central statistics office finds that Garda crime stats are unreliable [link](https://www.cso.ie/en/methods/crime/gardarecordedcrimestatistics/) .
Because we have a police force that might as well be a volunteer organisation.
Probably pretty safe where most of the blueshirts reside I guess 🤷🏼♂️
Fine Gael worst party in Europe claims Redditor.
Did they only compare it to Kiev?
Sexual assaults up 75% and no one is investigating why.
Nobody can afford a balaclava these days thanks to Fine Gael

There was a downtrend in assaults and murders on women from 2017 to 2020, haven’t seen the 2021 numbers yet.
Living central past 2 years have seen 3 dead homeless people
The fact that people think Dublin is very dangerous leads me to believe that they lead very sheltered lives
Tallinn would like a word
let’s say this is right which it isn’t. Dublin City is still a kip
This doesn’t mean they could not be better.
Walk down on O’Connell street on a Friday night after 10 pm I dare you ~ or walk around in IFSC at the same time.
As an immigrant I can say that people who think that Dublin is really THAT dangerous have clearly not lived in any other big city in Europe.
There was a yet another violent homophobic attack only last night.
Well that’s bollox straight away. Reykjavik would be safer at the very least.
Pretty much everyone on the island is victim to criminal housing market manipulation, led by the government – Fine Gael just like to pretend white collar crime doesn’t exist.
Yes Fine Gael, it was a great idea giving control of the Gardaí to the British military. Well done.
I hear they are going to double down and increase fining people so they are less dependent on the Irish government for money.
We may get Sinn Fein next year, but we’ll also have to deal with being ethnically oppressed like the PSNI does in the North.
What a load of bollocks
4 posts down from this one is about a guy that got attacked on a bus. Yep totally safe
Oh would you fuck off. What next Dublin is the safest capital city in Europe starting with D and ending with N.
They must mean Dublin Ohio….
They also said they fixed the economy and sorted out the housing catastrophe.
Hahahahahahahaha
Nah, can confirm that compared to Zagreb, Dublin is like a war zone. But it’s definitely safer than most, thinking about London, Paris, Malmo etc. Definitely has potential to be really safe, just needs taxpayer money to be applied properly.

Completely inaccurate statistics strike yet again!
Are you sure about that, Ted?
