You brave souls… Please come home safely, we cannot thank you enough.
Not to blame since most people wouldn’t possibly know it but that’s not a wildfire, that’s a conatus of a fire. Is something that we extinguish 200 times each summer at the bare minimum and they were not running for their lives, they had a guy of logistics saying that the wind is increasing and to go back at a safe distance to extinguish the conatus and still safe.
If it really is a wildfire trust me, there wouldn’t be people that close to the fire and there would be planes extinguising it instead since we have really controlled those things and really specific procedures to get rid of it putting as less lifes as possible in risk.
That’s why we have the U.M.E., firefighters, policemen to evacuate nearly homes if needed and a huge logistics team to make a correct planification.
We appreciate that you recognize our job, but please, don’t think that something really usual with no risk at all is dangerous, we are trained and this is our day-to-day every summer sadly. 😅
Just to mention either: avoid rural zones as much as possible, there’s even a decree from the Valencian community (those guys are from Castelló) stating that anyone should put a foot into rural zones due to these things, for us isn’t dangerous and we are prepared, bit for you could be a big deal or you could even cause it accidentally.
Adding something to that fire in specific, there was no risk of fire due to the direction of the wind since it was going to be outside of the forest itself, there were only 2 risks that were properly handled by those guys: the house and to avoid the part near the house that would lead to let the fire move.
A fire never goes back from the places that are already burnt and the direction of the wind was really clear, they went to avoid damage in the house and the path that the fire would naturally use (due to elevation and wind), nothing to worry since it was just a little thing controlled on time hopefully and the road was working as firebreak.
